I like her, but she does seem lazy. However, it also seems like the NRF aren't as visible as some others -- Harald's schedule was posted somewhere, and he clearly works pretty hard, mostly meetings. But you don't see Sonia out opening day care centers or cancer wards every day or anything. Are they a lot more relaxed on the whole, or are we just not seeing those photos here?

On Thursday Crown Princess Mette-Marit has posted a new picture on her twitter page of herself and Franca Sozzani - one of fashion industry's most powerful. If you look in to the Crown Princess Mette-Marit's twitter page you can find this nice picture of her with Franca Sozzani is the highly influential editor in chief of fashion magazine Vogue Italia. - So proud of you my friend! Writes the Crown Princess on her twitter. Receiving medal The reason for all this is that Mette-Marit in her way would honor Sozzani for the nice award she just received, the Légion d'honneur (Legion of Honor) - from the French President Sarkozy.

Is Princess Mette not so nice? I do not know much about her My observation: I think she's envisioned this role for herself of being a global humanitarian person-the ideal job would be any UN agency, but people who get those jobs have been at it for a while and have struggled to gain recognition for their accomplishments-dedicated to getting there because of their passion for it . She seems to be a very charismatic person w a lot of empathy, but unfortunately she IMHO just is lazy. It seems she doesn't think that she needs to work hard because the emotional investment she's put in should show it. But she is going to be a queen of Norway and her salary is coming from the Norwegians themselves-they pay for it indirectly. Nothing she does seems to show any strong willful, passionate dedication to her country which is her role now as cp and eventual queen. I kinda blame Haakon for it because I'm sure he's the stronger stubborn one and is used to getting is own way ie: studying at Berkeley and going to London. That's cool he wants to be a diplomat, but then they should both realize although their royal roles are meant to be "diplomatic" it's more about cultural aspects (royalty as figureheads) than policy (where the government steps in). Sorry long post but those are my observations of following them 10+ years and Haakon since Berkeley

She was in Paris, not afraid of flying . Not afraid of flying and not sick either (which is her other usual excuse). MM is committed and engaged.... when she chooses to work. Her laziness is - for me anyway - kinda challenging because when she does work, she does a great job.

She was in Paris, not afraid of flying . Guys, come on. Give it a rest with the flying phobia. Of course, everyone knows she has had a phobia of flying and that since her marrying the Crown Prince of Norway she has had to overcome this to a certain degree. Not that you ever 'overcome' a phobia completely. It's a continuing struggle. You're afraid, you do what you need to do to relax or whatever, and you go on and you do it, despite your fear. Does she fly to fun places? Of course! Does she make herself do it so she can go live and enjoy herself? Hell yes. Does she also make herself do it for work trips? For going to India to help her friends adopt those twins, or whatever else? Yep. Yep, Yep. I think it's admirable that she can overcome her fear and get up there and live her life. In spite of the fear! That's what living is all about!

Hasn't the flying phobia been used to explain why she can't attend some events.
I think Dishes are suspicious - as they should be - of phobias that apparently present themselves in curiously selective ways. Work? PHOBIA!!!! Fashion parade? NO PHOBIA!!!!

Thank you Welcome to RD but please reserve dishing for royals not fellow posters. Thanks for the welcome. Hey, I didn't mean to 'tell anyone how to post' or something. But I'm sorry anyway. I just have to disagree with the criticism because we have seen her make 'important' trips as well as 'trivial' fashion shows. Just recently, the World Economic Forum. Wasn't it on that flight that she had the scare, the engine failure and emergency landing, and she tweeted something to the effect of #notquiteovermyflightphobia. And then before, there was the trip to India. Plus she made an official tour of Indonesia, last summer, I think? That was work, right?

MM has a history of bowing out of planned events by all sorts of reasons, but nothing seems to come up when it's social or private events, that are planned. I guess that's why many have developed a rather sceptical attiude towards MM and her ways by now.

We were being sarcastic about her flight phobia. Just as Maria said, MM never had issues with social or private events she enjoyed, but when it came down to the basic royal activities, accidents, incidents, illness, flight phobia were biting her too often to be taken seriously. She is lucky though, she wouldn't make it in any other country (than Norway) with this attitude.
