Maybe that's why Mare has looked so sour lately. She knew a better looking princess was on it's way I was sure they knew early that it would be a girl, otherwise Jokke wouldn't have made the comment to the papers that it would be great to have one after all these boys. I'm so happy for the Schacks but at the same time afraid of Moshey's next PR stunt bound to come. Triplets, anyone?!

Now we wait 4 months to find out the new princess' name. Just curious,is this something most families do in Denmark or just the DRF?
Since most babies are baptized, children are not officially named in that sense until the christening. But most people do communicate the name at the birth. If you translate directly, until the christening, people ask in Danish "what shall the baby be named" (hvad skal barnet hedde) and not "what is the baby's name". The only people I know other than royals who don't communicate the name before the christening, are people who can't decide on the name. I know a couple of people who have been in that situation believe it or not! Maybe there are some Indre Mission people who still do it old school, what do I know because I don't have any close family members who belong to that sect. By law the baby has to have a name by 3 months. We travelled outside of EU before our daughter was 3 months and where we were going, she needed her own passport, so we had to name her officially when she was only a month old. The church registrar looked at us like we were from another planet when we came in to name her so early when we were anyway planning on christening her later Here in the US the baby's name is usually offical and paperwork done before we leave the hospitol,so within usually about 24 hrs of birth. But I think by law it has to be within a month.

They only occur every 60 years apparently! They thrive near water. So Freddles will have a niece he can relate to! Perhaps she will help mend the relationship with Jokke and Marie ....

Congrats to Jokke and Marie, Nicolai, Felix and Henrik!!! Good news indeed! Now, Marie has given birth in a public hospital, where all other moms and babies are shoved home THE VERY SAME DAY if the birth is without complications. Are they going home today - or do they get special treatment? This has nothing to dp with Marie and Jokke - I am just so mad that the royals canīt go to private hospitals and pay for their special treatment themselves. I think it is a slap in the face to all other mothers and babies who are brutally sent home.

I agree abs that marie should be sent home along with every other mother, barring complications, however i see the fact that she gave birth in a public hospital differently to you. I see it that she doesn't think herself too good and above everyone else by going public rather than private. JMO

Speaking of which .... did Marie clear an entire birthing unit the way Mary did, and shunt other expectant mothers away from the 17 surrounding rooms? I bet not! I bet she behaved like a normal person, engaged with the other patients ... and was generally a pleasure to have around!

abs, I wish I could you again, I couldn't agree more! Listening to the video on TV2 I am amazed - again, again - at how much more natural and comfortable Joachim is with public speaking. He comes across so much more kingly than Frederik. Fred should have abdicated before he had kids and let Joachim take over. Then again, if Joachim and Nik were the heirs to the throne, the monarchy would be safe for another couple of generations. At least Fred and Xn will certainly hasten the transition to the republic so in that sense

And every time the mothers and babies get massive special treatment. It IS offending to the other patients - I know that for a fact.

I am also sure they do get special treatment, which is sickening. They may however decide to give birth in a public hospital for other reasons. I know public hospitals often have better facilities incase something goes wrong with the labour, or baby. It might be as simple as that. However, I do not agree with royalty booking out an entire floor as such and other mothers having to be turned away.
