I guess this doesn't really belong in the News section, because it's hardly news to us. But the numbers are new, I guess http://ekstrabladet.dk/fl...gelige/article1716735.eceDecline in real wages for people in work, savings in public and exhortations from politicians that we all need to tighten our belts.
While the Danish society groans on top of recent years crises, living the royal life in the whirl of pleasures on incomes and consumption, which would get most people to gasp for breath.
Extra Bladet can reveal that future current austerity does not apply at Amalienborg Palace, where the Dankort daily glow after massive consumption. Thus spent Frederik and Mary nothing less than 12,287,142.45 kroner on goods and services in 2011.
Or just over one million kroner a month.
Thus surpasses royal couple their consumption record from last year when the couple fired 11.3 million off.
The calculation is based on the tax refund they received last year. This means that the cost of their employees are not included, since there is no VAT to pay.
Rather, it is money spent on handbags, shoes, dresses, cars, travel, hotel stays, home furnishings and other amenities.
Only a single million went to administration and property costs, which are also taxed. Other 3.5 million kroner went to court operations, but according to court records, it can not be read if there was VAT on those expenses.
Although the 3.5 million counted, had Mary and Fred still a private at no less than 7.5 million kroner a year. Money that went to physical goods. Or 625,000 kroner a month.
The fact remains that Frederik and Mary are among the few that do not need to set the standard of living down, just like other benefit recipients. IMO it's simply plain insane at this point. They are so obvious about their greed, that's it's just.. Off with their heads!

So this figure includes NO staff? and NO mortgage/accommodation costs? And whatever costs are being reported they well under-estimate what they are really consuming given all the freebies - free cars, free travel, free holidays either directly from the supplier or from "friends". Someone needs to do an analysis of what these amounts could be used for in a Danish context: -e.g. how many more nurses? teachers? -budgets for homeless? disadvantaged? etc. etc. WHEN, WHEN, WHEN will Danes wake up! When the BRF expenses were brought to light during the last economic downturn, they were forced to cut many of their expenses, pay their own way in many areas and tighten their belts. This is just truly disgusting behaviour. And where is moshie when this information comes out? - on a shopping trip to the US under the guise of a charity event. Just disgusting.

The size of their ego is astounding, no wonder they had to move into a bigger palace. I can't comprehend blatantly spending that much money without shame.

^^^ Because Fred's sports cars and personalised motorbikes, holidays, parties etc.. are free. Both spend like crazy and if he had any problem with Mary's spending he could cut her off, as she only receives 10% of his assignation.

I suspect he lets her sport shop to distract from his extracurricular activities.

Buying silence is a costly business ! So the poor Danes have to pay for their man-child prince to have affairs too. Nothing ever surprises me with these two. So self absorbed and selfish.

$1.4 mil (US dollars) personal spending money last year. Even 4 nannies are included in this $1.4 mil, still lots of tax free money to spend. Danes are really slow, aren't they ?
