Why was she banned? She could be very vitriolic when it came to Mary (isn't everyone?), but I never saw her personally attack anyone.

I thought in the beginnig that could know Mary from her old days, but then she did her thing with the eyes on me and she was right on the dot!! I Hope she is reading she told me something about my health and just now doctors find out what is going on!! Thank you DA!!

Not to rip up the past but ... She was banned for a reason. Maria and Thomas dont ban people just because.

A lot of people have over the years mentioned how empty Mary's eyes look. I have said the same myself a number of times.

I brought up the point that perhaps her eyes could be he way they are now due to medication. Does anyone agree/disagree? I remember Mary a few years back was reported to have anxiety issues?

I thought I would start a seperate thread for this discussion as it was in the Xtian and siblings area.

I'd say she was a normal person back in the day.

Yet her mania for making love to a camera is a little over the top.  And she does seem bothered by all of her peer princesses, inferiority complex.  But these issues likely came after the wedding when she had a chance to see what she
really got into.

Sometimes you never know though; no one saw Diana's bulimia coming and few saw Fergie and how she would end up. The thing is, that sometimes even the most seemingly normal people can end up crackpots behind closed doors, while the local ecentric who people joke about being two steps from the looney bin are actually sane and solid behind closed doors. There is something off about her that seems to evade explanation, but it's there. Even IF there are no real clinical signs, it is possible that Mary's freer lifestyle has been suited ot her personality and she can't cope with teh strictures of royal life and not being able to really be 'free' as she used to.

Mental illness would only be detected in her history if she got professional help - and even then it might be hard to uncover confidential info. Many people who need therapy never get it. But yes, they probably did a background check, but it must've been cursory. Even setting aside mental illness, you don't have to dig deep to discover her un-classy background: dubious friends Amber Petty and sex industry roommate Andrew Miles, a professional career that was going nowhere, Starmakers courses, her very tacky appearance, unpaid credit card bills, no savings, a social climbing lifestyle, bogan relatives, living off rich boyfriends, etc. And if I met her, I'd be put off by her lack of manners, inability to make intelligent conversation, and arrogance. All of this was easy to discover, and if my kid, the prince, was dating such a person, I wouldn't let a wedding go forward. Allowing herself to be supported by a prince would've been a huge red flag. A kept woman is far from being suitable for any kid of mine.

You don't need to add mental illness to the mix to reject Mary as a suitable wife and royal. There were many other good reasons to do so.

Quite the contrast from in the UK where every one of Kate's ancestors, no matter living or dead, were dug up and scrutinised and put on reality tv

It's too bad they didn't do closer checks-they would have found the child rapist in her family tree.  Now, I'm not insinuating that Mary displays any of these tendencies at all.  I'm just saying that if we compare her family dysfunction with Kate's, I'd be less ashamed of the coke addict uncle (Kate's) and more ashamed/horrified of the child rapist (Mary's relative).
