When F&M were leaving the chuch and sitting in the car I thought it was remarkable how much space there was in between them.

I know some women like that, but it is a turn off for me. It is easy for me to get in and out of cars, it is totally easy to open doors, and I don´t need some man to take control over so simple things in my life! I am not handicapped because I am a woman!!!

I like that as well winxie, I think it's very courtious, and respectful. And completely different to Fred who always is completely ignorant towards Mary. In the most peculiar situation - I bet if Marie would have stepped out of her shoe, like Yrma did during the US visit, Joachim wouldn't have stood there like an idiot and let her figure it out herself. Even though it's a funeral, I think Marie looks phantastic. I don't know if Yrma is concerned that Freddles will have an emotional break down, or if she is just a very good actress; yes it's a solemn event but she treis too look like a suffering madonna

I had the same philosophy until I gave birth to beautiful daughter to dear husband. After 2 days of of the most horrible contractions and c -section I deserved to be treated as queen for the rest of mi life. And poor the guy who tries to court Princess Winx, he will have to face a very determined Mr Winx making sure his princess is treated as queen as well!!

Of course everybody needs a hand sometimes! But personally I still want to open my own doors and step out of cars on my own, thank you very much! If a man did this to me, I would swat him away, mind your own steps, mister! And no, I am NOT a masculine woman!

I am very much a feminist and I had the same thoughts about car doors, etc, until I met my husband. He's an only child and his father worked very long hours. He was pretty much raised by only his mother. She was a miracle-worker, because she taught him from a very early age to open doors, hold purses, hold a coat for a lady who is going to put it on, etc. This makes me very proud, so I have no problem when he does these things for me, or my mother, or his mother. It shows a sign of respect for women, which I absolutely love

I just think it's good manners. I hold the door open for others, offer my arm when necessary etc. It's just being polite. IMO.

Is it just the Danes' bowing and scraping that should be stopped, or does that include everyone...the Brits, Spanish, Dutch, Norwegians, etc.? I agree that it does seem a little out-dated, but I think it would be better if the practice were shelved for everyone. I can't imagine QEII would be all that upset if dipping one's knees and neck were put on the no no list.
Curtseying isn't a requirement in the UK. My sister attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace and she didn't have to curtsey to QEII. Interesting. Thanks, Little star. Then is curtseying a requirement in other countries or is it up to the individual, as in the UK? If it's not a requirement I don't see how we can get upset with JC, Marge, QEII, and company for accepting curtseys and bows from their minions. After all, what would we have them do? Pull the curtseyer to her feet by her shoulders while saying, "No, no,...please....not for little 'ole me!"

It was a few years ago now but I think my sister received a protocol list of dos and don'ts, which made it clear what a person was to do. F&M issued one when they went to the US on their last useless trip. I seem to remember there were a couple of unusual demands
