Møller made substantial donations to causes both in Denmark and abroad, including the Copenhagen Opera House directly across the harbour from the royal residence, Amalienborg Palace, and within sight of his corporate headquarters. He also donated Amaliehaven, a park between the Palace and the harbour. http://en.wikipedia.org/w...rsk_Mc-Kinney_M%C3%B8llerThe DRF attended the opening.

I´m with Cess and abs. These "good manners" towards healthy women imply always a touch of machism in its conception. Same here with courtesying from people who are not "noble" or royals (and very disturbing to see elected representants to courtesy royals). But I have realized that many men or people do it because they just want Everybody should act like they think it´s correct. Are there consecuences for people who doesn´t courtesy? About the burrial, weird how royals behave at these events. I didn´t like how Maxima or Letizia dressed sometimes at similar occasions, and I didn´t like how Mathilde and Laurent laughted at the burial of an aunt (?) so I don´t like either how Margarethe behaved this time I liked the affection showed by Mary and Frederik. I imagine Marie and Joaquim did it right too. A pity that there are not more pics of them. I found very respectful that Mary and Marie (like the majority of the old dames too) were wearing black tights, rocks, huts and gloves, the highst sign of respect at a funeral. The only thing I didn´t like about their clothes and actitude was the pamela of Marie. Not so bad like Máxima´s mafia godmother classic, but a bad choice IMO

There is a whole culture about that "donation"....he got his moneys worth thru tax deductions and the taxpayers will end up paying for the maintenance and all. dont forget they are run in the same circles of hoarding money and things and making others pay for it. MMM is NOT known for his generosity in any form or fashion. He was a businessman, not a philanthopist.

Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller's tomb at Hellerup cemetery is decorated with flowers from the funeral in Holmen's Church on Saturday afternoon. The amount of flower bouquets from the funeral yesterday in Holmen's Church is so enormous that employees from the Bering flowers has been responsible for floral arrangement in the church, spent several hours trying to put them right in five long rows here in the cemetery in Hellerup. Front left is the heart of red roses, which the family has put at Maersk's grave. Beside the heart bouquet is the wreath from the royal house, where roses in red, pink and yellow blends beautifully. The grave is adorned with flowers in white and blue. picture gallery (big photos): http://stiften.dk/livssti...alleri-maersks-begravelse

Re: smiling at a funeral. Mr Moeller was in his 90s & his death could not have been totally unexpected. My grandfather died in his early 90s & we smiled at his funeral & even joked while talking to friends & family. Doesn't mean we didnt care or didn't miss him. We were just remembering the good times & fun stuff.

Thanks PeDe for posting the photos of the flowers! They are quite lovely. It surprised me to see all of the bouquets lined up in that manner, they look so pretty.

Thanks for the flower shots, PeDe. They are some of the loveliest flowers that I've ever seen at a funeral. Like Cowgirl, I also don't see anything wrong with smiling at a funeral. A very old person often has had a life filled with things worthy of celebration. It is a time of grief but also of remembering good times and a time of catching up with the deceased's family and expressing thanks for the fun times, offering comforting words of love and practical support. I see Marie, Joachim, Mary and Fred behaving entirely appropriately. The fact that people do curtsy and bow to Margrethe and the Royal family is a formality that one day might peter out. I imagine that some folk like to follow protocol when they greet them.
