If JC and Sofia divorce, there is no law that says JC can't marry Corinna. Whether the public/press likes Corinna or not, it probably doesn't matter to her. She likes to wear designer clothes, jewels, walk on the red carpet, be the first lady of Spain, who cares about the public adores her or not.
First, the Church won't approve of it. Second, if he does that, I think Spain will become a republic. JC can't be that foolish, can he? Now I think F&L like working together because they are determined not to follow JC and Sofia's path. They can have a civil wedding. She might not be Queen, but still his wife, can accompany him everywhere officially. Monarchy is part of the political system, Felipe has become more powerful the last few years, so the monarchy is not about JC alone. I doubt it would get abolished because of JC's private life. Of course, the voice of abdication would become louder and louder if JC and Sofia divorce, but if the old man insists on sitting on the throne, what can you do ? Nobody can force the King to abdicate. Ironically, Sofia gained her respect for being professionally when JC cheated, not behaving like Diana. If JC had married for love like CG, he would be in trouble. But since he married for duties, so many are willing to give him a pass. I remember before Felipe got married, some conservatives had suggested him to take a royal wife, having mistresses on the side as him Daddy.

The marriage has been a sham for 40 out of the 50 years. She will not divorce him as she is too fond of the title and position. Which one of these women is the goldigger Why would she divorce him, many people live with infidelity, and many choose to stay within a marraige in name only, for religious beliefs, family, money especially those of Sofia's generation. In the Autumn of her life and being aware for many years of him playing the field , why should she be the one to walk of the pitch, everything she has done has being for her children, she has created her own life within the boundaries of her duties of being Queen. She is a old style royal, and I'm not going to knock her for that.

Now she can sit back and watch how her hubby and his mistress continue their 'love' story with heavy media scrutiny .

To me It seems that not the infedilty bothers Sophia now (he's been cheating for decades) but the public humiliation so good for her

sofia and JC have had separate bedrooms since 1976. what did anybody expect? that JC lives like a monk? i for one don't think that many men would willingly choose celibacy given the choice.
sofia is as much responsible as JC is for their marriage. they obviously chose to stay together because they had the ambition to reign over spain and to put their son on the throne. and that's a fair enough choice.
i just hope that she too had her fair share of love(rs) over the past decades.
at this point they should either stick with their initial choice and put up a common front or divorce.

for Lolly, dkaren and Hanzo, why after 50 years would she decide that's it , one thing in your playing around, and it's known, as with the King is that you play quite and give your wife a bit of public dignity and respect as the mother of your children and for keeping up appearances. I'm glad that the King and his mistress are outed, no harm for the heat to be kept on him, and no harm in Sofia for standing up for herself, it's one thing turning a blind eye, it's another when your being poked in the eye.

Yes, it sounds like Sofia tolerated it as long as she wasn't humiliated, but bringing Corinna to official events and arranging a hunt that resulted in this disaster crosses a line.

Sofia is posing with the Palmas again in Washington. I bet she did this to piss JC off.

I wish she wouldn't hang around Inaki. Photos with the grandkids, okay, but being seen smiling around him, doesn't look good. Mind, I totally believe he's guilty.

The younger kids look happy and she is a very good grandmother, just the eldest seems to realize the situation. It´s okay so, they are still small.

It's a really bad move for Sofia to be seen with Inaki IMO.
