They could have found a much nicer the dress It's kinda pukey and very cheap looking
Max/Wax don't seems like the type who pressure a kid to loose weight I hope the Dutch media will be fair to her

I thought this picture was taken outside their home while attending some event, no? They were not playing in the garden, or by the side of the house, no?
Although I hear what everyone is saying. But we're not talking about mere mortals, these are children of one of the wealthiest RF's in the world who can certainly afford some very lovely day wear for the girls. They are exceptionally unattractive so any wardrobe enhancement would not go astray The Spanish princesses are an example of well dressed young girls.

This could also be the case of W-A and Maxima letting the girls choose their own dresses for the event. They don't seem to be dressing the AAA team in similar outfits anymore and might be giving them a little bit of fashion freedom.

I wouldn't call these girls exceptionally unattractive though. I think they are a cute trio of girls. Amalia is heading into the age where not all clothes are going to suit her shape, but she can easily be dressed in a flattering way with Maxima choosing clothes that minimize 'problem' areas without Amalia being made to feel like her weight is an issue. I really do hope the Dutch Media treats Amalia with kindness. The last thing I want to see is another anorexia heartache like Vikkan. I'd rather them just accept Amalia will never be stick thin than drive her to an eating disorder.

My crystal ball ssays she will struggle with weight her entire life, will jojo up and down like Mom. But I think CA has enough happy-hooray genes from her parents, not to fall into the depressive pit of self-loathing, that is usually at the bottom of the eating disorders.

fairy Looking back on the struggles with body image many of the girls I grew up with contended with, I realize how fortunate I was to have had a Mother who set such a positive example of self-respect and confidence for me - be proud and respectful of your body. Always. The only person who's opinion about your body is important is you. If someone tries to make you feel bad about your body, they are doing it because they want you to be as insecure with yourself as they are in themself.

An a good thing you were not an heir to a throne! Amalia is / will be a public figure not easy for her!! I have read before that Maxima had struggles with her weight as a child and that even her mother tried to interfere, don't know if she did any better!! But I think I picked up that info from the discussions on magazines when her unauthorized bio came out!! There was a time that Prive also printed on the issue before the book. Max has lots unresolved issues with her weight and was spotted leaving a Hocus Pocus diet clinic a couple of years ago!!

An a good thing you were not an heir to a throne! Amalia is / will be a public figure not easy for her!! That is SO true. Look at the percentages of crown princesses and eating disorders - both those born in and who married in (Victoria and Diana both confirmed). Unlike the rest of us, this child will be the butt of every tabloid joke out there. All of these children growing up in these royal families, most particularly the girls are in a terrible situation.

She will be in difficult situation. But I think it always does depend on the personality. (we are going of topic, but what the heck, it wouldn't be the first time, so here goes)
Diana IMo developed the eating disorder in a textbook style: she was rapidly losing control of her life and the only thing she could control and only she, was what went into her body and what went out. This kind of ED is a power and control struggle. Plus it had the tragically added benefit that the slimmer she became the more the media hyped her as "elegant, beautiful and gracious" as opposed to her overweight and piggy-like sister-in-law Fergie. Beatrice York, ridiculed for going up and down in weight, has bad genes, most likely inherited the system of eating as a compensation or consolation, and is simply in the bad spot of having Fergie and Andrew for parents which garantees her a lot of negative media for association alone. Victoria on the other hand has a mother who seems to have great problems with her looks and her body, Silvia managed to keep an enviable figure, and I presume she does that by literally eating a cucumber and a slice of lemon a day (exclusively). She reminds me of my mother, who cannot greet me or my sister without wondering aloud, if we haven't gained weight since last we met? Or commenting on the unfortunate and quite unflattering outfit I am apparently wearing. Silvia's own issues on how to stay beautiful (with excruciating diet and plastic surgery) must have caused problems in her daughter, esp. since her daughter was quite obviously not as beautiful and gracious as her mother had been in her youth.
CA however has parents that seem to be quite oblivious to weight issues. Yes Maxima jojos, but when you look at her choices of wardrobe, you wouldn't get the idea that this is a woman who feels conscious of her body issues. She wears skirts and dresses that are far too small for her and she seems extremely comfortable in her skin. As does WA. I can see CA turning into the chubby but hilariously funny and happy girl that everybody likes, attracks men with her vivaciousness (and her wealth!!) and might not be hailed as the new icon of fashion, but honestly who couldn't care less?
