Amalia is only 8 or 9 and looks like is getting overweight I am breaking my rule on commenting about children negatively - she's been a little heavy for quite some time. Poor child, not her fault. There's no reason why she can't be on a food regimen that satisfies her food cravings and growing appetite and yet is very healthy. WA does look like he dotes on all of his "daddy's little girls." I think Ariane may grow up to be the most striking. Of the three she is the most unusual looking, esp. around the eyes.

IMO Amalia has always had a round face which has made her look a little chubby in the past. However, it does look like she has a bit of a tummy too. Her sisters look much slimmer by comparison. I think that she will be quite tall one day like her parents, but I'd hate to see her struggle with her weight too.

It seems tricky with kids because some of ones who are chubby kids got fantastic figures after puberty/growth spurts and some of the skinny ones didn't maintain. Seems as if, so long as their diet is under control, you might as well wait and see what their metabolism becomes in a few years because addressing their weight as they approach the pre-teen years could be pretty damaging emotionally.

I believe this is the right time to handle the situation, if they wait the teen years bad habits and poor health will set in!! She has a hanging tummy already, that means a little practice of sports or none at all and indulging in food, no good for a girl her age!!

Amalia is only 8 or 9 and looks like is getting overweight Poor Amalia is going to be tall and fat like Daisy. But, I hope she has nicer hair than her mother and I hope she does not smoke.

I think most of it is Amalia's genetics. Even as a baby she was chubby and throughout her childhood she has been a tall and solidly built child. She is only 8 years old and much of it is likely 'babyfat' which spreads itself out when a child hits puberty. so I really hope there is no talk of her weight because it can be incredibly damaging to a child and set up years of eating disorders and body image issues in anyone, let alone someone who will live her life in the public eye.
I think she will never be a skinny girl, which is fine, but as long as she is eating well and participating in physical activity it's ok.
And speaking from experience, nothing makes a tummy look worse than that style of dress!

Isn't this what children wear when they hang out in trailer parks? I'm sure I've see children who look like this hanging by the kerb at trailer parks. Otherwise, it seems the mother keeps them in the attic.

I disagree. This is late spring and summer girls' casual dresses, cardigans and shoes.

I've seen "trailer park" up close and personal. This ain't it. For the trailer park, at least one of them would have on a rock star t-shirt which is way to old for them. Another would have short shorts with a message displayed across her ...... At least one would have on makeup and there would be accessories galore from the dollar store.

The dresses are ok. CA's is not particularly flattering, but then the entire family doesn't own a mirror. CA's weight however should be in a corner of her ped's and of course her parents eyes. yes, she is still a child and could of course outgrow her chubbyness. However child obesity is increasing in our well-fed western societies and should not be neglected or played down. At this stage, I'd say, Amalia is either eating too much or not having enough exercise. There is no need for any diet but every need to overthink eating or exercise habits as these will set a pattern for her.

When I was growing up on every nice day, all summer and every weekend, me, my siblings, and every kid on my block were thrown out of the house from after lunch until dinner time. There was nothing to do out there but games of tag, ball games, bike riding, hopscotch, etc, etc. Our mothers probably did it to get us out of their hair and to wear us out, as childhood obesity was just such a non issue, UV rays and predators were not concerns either. About mid afternoon someone brought us lemonade or water. I'm assuming AAA have a nice play area. They need to invite some kids over, get out some bicycles and let them have at it, all summer long.

I recall seeing a photo of Amalia with her field hockey team. I don't know if she's still playing though.

"Trailer Park" could be used to describe many of my former students especially those who checked "Caucasian, white, European descent" on their school registration forms. Your clothing descriptions are spot on Bessie!
