How sad.

True, but in some ways it's a good thing, for them.  Edward and Sophie Wessex have had a much easier life being largely out of the spotlight.  If the stars of the show are going to embarrass themselves, best to stay well away.

How much does the DRF pay for these 'documentaries'

The DRF doesn't need to pay the ZDF anything, because the ZDF has found royal documentaries the new "it-thing", so it's US, the German GEZ  -payers to pay such rubbish. I am surprised that there is now nearly every week a new royal doku on ZDF (at least it feels like this). The ZDF showed the Swedish cheesy wedding, British wedding mess, the Monegasque royal circus, Estelles baptism... If they had at least a decent commentator like ARD's Rolf Seelmann-Eggebert (even though to him every Royal wedding is a dream wedding, Waity is the salvation of the BRF and rather William than Charles the next British King), but no, they always send Karen "sqeezy dolly" Webb 

I was working while the last 20 minutes were on and what I saw was just a repetation of all we have seen 100 times before. It started with F&M wedding, then came C&I and finally the twins. Nothing new. And of course, they are all happy in Denmark, they all love each other and so on, and so on...

And don't forget: The viewers of ZDF are over 60 years old and there are many female viewers which also reads the "wonderful" german rainbow-press-magazines (the magazines you can compare with the pro-DRF-Billed Bladet) ... (The same target-market!)
