Joachim and Marie at the Olympics in London

I think it is strange that N&F aren't very visible with Joachim - however I do not get the urge some people have to blame this on either Alex or Marie. How about Joachim getting some blame - if there even is something to blame any one about? Joachim must have known for a long time when he and Marie would be in London - because his kids are in school, he could have insisted he should go earlier so they could be with him; he could have arranged the holiday with Alex differently - he could have done LOTS of things to take the boys with him if he wanted them with him. He seemingly hasn't - also we don't know if they even wanted to go.

True Maria, but I think they couldn't have gone earlier, because that would have cut into Fred's and Yrma's attendance as Crown Prince Couple attending the opening ceremony.

And since Christian had to start school the same day Nikolai & Felix did, I don't believe that F&M would have budged to change the date to let Joachim and Marie come earlier with the boys. Benedikte could have stayed at home as well, but she wanted to attend her daughters horse riding competitions, so no chance here either.

So, while I generally agree with you that he comes off easy in this "blaming game", I don't know if he would have had a chance to do it differently.

PeDe, you're probably right - unless of course it could have been arranged so that Frederik and Joachim went over there at the same time. I guess that wasn't possible for various reasons.. either way: my main point is that it seems to always be Alex or/and Marie who gets the blame and rarely Joachim - though I actually don't think the foursome has any problems - I think Joachim should be the one to deal with and have responsibility for the problems there might be, if there are any.

the question remains as to whether the boys were invited to go to the olympics in the first place by their father and stepmother. maybe they were and they didn't want to come. maybe they weren't. of course it's also possible that alexandra decided to deprive them from the olympics (if you want to believe it)... i wonder if alexandra's recent comment on nikolai's character was fortuitous.

sorry for the delay in responding Clara. just catching up with this thread. IIRC alex recently commented in an interview that nikolai was blessed to have a character like his grandfather (she meant her father, not henrik), i.e. that he is not the type to hold grudges (something along those lines).

"she meant her father, not henrik" means that alex talked about her father not henrik. in other words mr. manley.
