It has been announced that Queen Margrethe will be hosting a dinner meeting with the Danish Cabinet on Wednesday.  These types of meeting are very rare and usually signify a major event about to take place in the Royal Family.  Indeed this will be only the fourth held during the Queen's 45 year reign. The previous two were to inform the cabinet of her sons' engagements and the last one in 2009 was to requested by then Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmusen to formally offer his resignation to the Queen.  The word abdication is being thrown about since it is believed the Queen requested this meeting. Fred and Yrma will also be attending.

Could she finally have given in and will make Henrik king? Or divorce him? She said several times that she will never abdicate, the last time a few months ago in an interview, so I hope she didn't change her mind.

Maybe its to announce Mary's abdication as Crown Princess of Denmark? And that she's decided to take residence in her multi-million dollar estate/island in Australia?

All rumours point to this - she's homesick, she's bought her own tiara, she was 'allowed' to spend Christmas there last year - so she could find a new place to live and hubby would pay for it.

Maybe Marg will make her Countess of Copenhagen, and give her a diplomatic role at the Danish Embassy in Australia?

Really.
I don't think it's an abdication.
And I don't think it's a divorce.
Mary wouldn't be looking so happy with herself lately if she was out.
I think it might be more about Henrik and Fred.
With Henrik retired, it'll be about Fred taking on more royal responsibilities.

Or.
Since her 45th year as Queen was not to be celebrated with a big to-do, this is it.

But if it's something relative to the current Prime Minister of Denmark, then why Fred and Mary would be there?
And if it's something relative to Henrik's retirement and his duties going to Fred, shouldn't Henrik be there?

She may has said many times that she will not abdicate, but who knows for sure?
Or could be something entirly different.

She'll abdicate, won't she?

Otherwise I don't see a reason for Frederik AND Mary attending. If this was strictly a state issue and not personal, I doubt Mary would have any place in the meeting. She's the consort, not the heir. They could be taking on more duties, but why is that so important as to request a cabinet meeting even if it's at a dinner. Or they're getting a divorce which seems unlikely.

Perhaps after Richard's recent death she re-evaluated some things and wants to move to France to be with Henrik.

I kinda want it to be abdication, just cuz I wanna see what Mary does when she finally becomes Queen Consort.

If Marge wants to be with her husband after Richard died, I'd be ok with it.
