Apart from the WIlma Flintstone beads, this was a very very (absolutely very) good outfit. Regular cut jacket in a good colour and dark turtleneck with dark slacks. GGGGOOOODDDDD!!!!
Now if we could have someone taking away those silly eighties royally blue eyeshadows and help her introduce to natural colours, I'd be even willing to let her keep the blue-tinted glasses....

Does anyone know if the Dutch royals have a fondness for horses like the British royals? Were Beatrix and her sisters interested in riding when they were young?

There have been quite a few pictures of the family riding along the beaches. In fact there is a cute pic of the QueenBee with a very handsome fellow on the beach...
And I saw Maxima once on horseback at the beach near her home...

Beatrix was and still is found of horses since she was a little child. She and Irene often participate in competitions or attended when their father did.



She and her sisters had to take care for their horses




She also learned how to ride with a side saddlein 1957 (but while doing this she fell from horse, broke her ankle and couldn't fully attend her second Prinsjesdag,because she couldn't get into the Golden Carriage with her leg in plaster). Finally she did it


Prince Claus also went on horseback with her sometimes



Beatrix still does horsebackriding (even with her new knee and more" riding accidents" -->last in 2009). She loves to ride at the beach with her horse Benito


PS When fairy talked about a handsome fellowman she meant this one. Her Majesty's stablemaster

I absolutely meant this yummy fellow.... there is something about men on horseback.... Drool couldn't find a better horse, its the thought that counts...
