I think she needs her own thread. And I start with the visit of the new Belgian Prime Minister Yves Leterme today. Poor one. I think she still doesn't look health. Beside her could, her leg still is bandaged

I have no idea. Perhaps she tripped over badly. Also, she still didn't recover fully of a bad and very persistant cold, she looks pale & not feeling good. I hope she gets through the state visit on thursday.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=5ym8zmOwXeMIt's a great video of her visit to Clinge last week. Even if you don't understand a word, you sometimes can hear that the cold had a deep impact on her voice. But she and her l-i-w (it is Chris' favorite l-i-w; the "hefty one" )are a good team. She asked the question HM wanted to ask.

High time Anirac, that we got our own thread Very good idea..... Well the QueenBee hasn't looked too well for the past couple of weeks and that ankle doesn't help. , Poor ma'am, even the puffy sleeves of her awfully coloured jacket look a bit deflated. And no lunchbox in sight they are not starving her? I am waiting for the video on youtube to load, so I hope the cooler is then firmly in place. Otherwise I am off with some sandwiches and a chickenleg to nurse the QueenBee back to health. (Lekker Middagessen anyone? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unkQ-asj7nY)

When I saw it for the first time, I really lay on the ground for laughing But I must say, I like "HURZ" more

The lamb - the wolves and the lamb cries "Hurz" for goodness just thinking of it makes me scream.... Anyhow, just saw part of the youtube and honestly she is not very much engaged now is she? (side note: is it coincidence that Mary wore a younger version of QueenBees outfit for her stint to the psych ward?) I found QB a bit stiff and hhm unease and rather cautious. Even her hilarious LIW (such a wonderful person) seemed more relaxed and engaged. QB hardly ever smiled. (even though the mayor fighting for his necklace was very funny). And in case DRF reads us: BURN THAT SKIRT. For heavens does Beatrix think she is a bat?

Danke schoen, It is amazing to see how many she has, so I count the dark brown, the beige (that Maxima sometimes uses) the Paisley, the flowerpower brown, a black and a dark grey.....(and I checked to see if possibly the paisley, flower and browns can't be one and the same, worn inside out) Note to Trix, it is nice to have asignature style, but with hair, make-up, hats and outfits the same all the time, it simply gets boring. Now that is one thing the QueenBee strikes me as NOT: BOring...
Anirac, have you by chance read Wilheminas autobiography: Lonely but not alone?

I would have, if I would order it over our university library (at least I think it works at this way ), but that would take weeks. And at this time I simple don't have the time to do it, BUT I would do it. I think it is interesting to read her view, especially in the time of WW II. I also think it would be more interesting to read between the lines, what she tought about herself and her duty, then the historical facts.

Well I am reading it at the moment, however it would most certainly be more correct to say I am fighting myself thru those pages. I never once read anything so extremely arrogant and floating above. Wilhelminas spirituality and Geblabber about God and the Holy spirit is very difficult to read, her patriotism completely ignoring the Netherlands tragedy during the occupation and her complete ignorance of what is well known about her family so naive that it is almost endearing. For ex. most of her speeches during the war from GB (the ones she quotes in her book) are touching the lost lives and the danger in the occupied areas only slightly whereas she dwells on that she (we as in pluralis majestatis) plans on reforms after the war, however which ones?. She writes about the exiled government without ever really saying something. A good example is her defence of Juliana, who according to the book had been accused of living the safe live in Canada and busying herself entirely with her children. That the Queen says was not correct, Juliana had worked tirelessly to better the conditions of the poor dutch, meeting them whereever possible. She had been a rock overseas. BUt no explanantions as to how, what where. What exactly did she do? Achieve? Attempt? No examples whatsoever and personally and without a pinch of blame I would say Wilhelmina didn't exonerate Juliana but merely reminded people of that rumour which had it been correct would have had my blessing anyway. A funny anecdote is the mentioning of her son-in-law, who apparently enjoyed the "carefree" live of a warhero a dare devil without family to worry about a bit too much. She said that he felt the bitter seperation of wife and children so badly, that she felt it necessary to move back into with him. I wonder if she felt it safer to move back to keep a sterner eye on him? Keeping rumours at bay? Anyhow, all in all I actually started to not like her.
