I think Mary will definitely be a godparent. If not, there will be hell to pay. Can you imagine the interactions at public functions between Marie and Mary if she's not chosen. That, imo, would be the ultimate snub and slap in the face.

Lol, I've just re-read my post and it certainly looks like that's what I was implying.

No, I didn't think Mary was a minor royal, I seem to recall Edward Wessex was one Nikolai's godfather so thought somebody along those lines, ie a second or third child may be a godparent. Hence the minor royalty reference.

Carina.  Perhaps that explains why Carina is now being seen more with Marie than with Mary.

Carina is not Marie or Jokke's "real" friend (that what I've thought) and she is not even Gustave's wife (well her status still his GF ) so I have a doubt she would be one of the baby's God parents .

Nikolai's godparents are Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark; The Earl of Wessex, Peter Steentrup, his maternal aunt, Nicola Baird; and Camilla Flint. Prince Nikolai is the oldest grandchild of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and her husband, Prince Henrik.

Felix's godparents are Count Christian Ahlefeldt-Laurvig, Oscar Davidsen Siesby, Damian Sibley, his maternal aunt, Martina Bent; and Annick Boel.

So we can see a pattern here:
-Someone from the DRF
-One for two from Marie's family
-Another royal or noble (not from the DRF)
-Friends (two)

-Gustav of Berleburg ? (This could depend on who Joachim is godparent of)

I don't think any royals will get the nod, nor will Mary. The relationships just aren't there. The sponsors have to provide at least 18 years of birthday pressies plus a cross at confirmation and light 'spiritual guidance'. That pre-supposes a pretty solid relationship, or the potential for one. With Mary standing right in front of Marie on the steps at Parliament without saying hello, sorry, it's those little things that mean a lot and Marie was visibly bothered by that.

Mary is also very uncomfortable with Joachim (see photos), as most social phobics would be.

Marie seems to have really bonded with Britt Siesbye (photo #3; now preggers) and bridesmaid Agnete Arnø (about to give birth) as well as Charlotte Sparre. Carina's a bit of an unstable choice, not being married to her gravy train and therefore a potential flight risk. I think Marie's oldest brother Benjamin could get the nod as oldest and as sort of compensation for not being able to attend the wedding (his daughter got the flu). There is also Marie's best French friend Julie Michelson (?).

given the frosty and downright rude attitude that mary has assumed with marie (not to mention mary's attempt to upstage marie at marie's wedding), i think marie should appoint mary as the DRF godparent...to highlight that mary can't get the gig with any more senior royals!

then again, here is another strategy for marie:  don't appoint mary as godmum, and then tell the press you were hesitant to select mary because her future in the DRF is so uncertain given the increasingly unstable relationship between mosh and frecks, the high probability that mary wont' stay in denmark (or even europe) much longer....not to mention mary's inability to speak or learnn foreign languages (knowing that marie will ensure her kids are fluent in multiple languages.
