I thought it mist be good to have a thread for everyone to recount their meetings/sightings of royals.
I was in Harrods a couple of weeks ago with some friends visiting from abroad, and we went to the Chocolate Bar upstairs. It was quite late in the day and the cafe was closing shortly after. He was there with a large entourage of men and one woman who I didn't notice until he was leaving.
I don't know the Dubai princes very well so although I recognised him, I wasn't sure which one of the princes he was. As he was leaving a group of Arab women stopped him and asked for photos with him and he very graciously stopped to pose.
He seemed like a very nice guy, quite flashy in the way he was dressed, but he didn't come across as arrogant, as other Arab princes I've seen in the past have.

I was in Foyles bookshop in Cambridge Circus, London once about 10 years ago. In the philosophy department. I was ferretting around in a bottom shelf, stood up, and who should be facing me the other side of the shelf, but Reina Sofia of Spain! I could NOT believe my eyes. Which was obvious because we both just stared at each other for about 30 seconds. I remember she was wearing a pewter blue dress. Then her body guard started to move from the side of the room, and that broke the spell and I moved away from my staring. End of story.
I found a Foyles employee who confirmed Reina Sofia might be somewhere in the building. Then when my friend and I got out on to the street, we saw a big mercedes with a HRH registration. It's funny, what I remember is the pewter blue dress and the look of shock on her face at being recognized!

I unfortunately forgot the date (1964, 1965 or 1966), I was introduced together with my colleagues, at the ambassador's official residence to Queen Elizabeth II and to the Duke of Edinburgh. We had to curtsy to the Queen, could not speak to the Queen if we were not addressed, the Duke of Edinburgh spoke to one of our local colleagues because he had a lot of World War II medals, but James (that was his name) would not end talking about the war. I thought it was very funny. On the other hand I found this introduction to the Queen and her husband very impressive. She's a great lady. In 1967 during the British Week in Brussels in the Embassy premises we were briefly introduced to Princess Margareth and Lord Snowdon. She was a beautiful lady. Many years ago, (between 1976 and 1980) I met King Baudouin at a Paul Delvaux's exhibition, it was in a very small room of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels. He was talking with the painter. He had no bodyguard, he seemed to be a very nice gentleman. I was there with a colleague. We were only 4 people in the room, the King smiled to us.

I've never met any royals but my husband's uncle (who is a journalist) has interviewed King Carl Gustav and Queen Silvia.

I met Prince Albert a number of times during his visits to the US (my maternal grandparents lived across the street from the Kellys). I knew Felipe and Pavlos from school. I met Rania on two occasions at events in Cairo and New York. I didn't meet him but my godmother received Sweden's Royal Order of Vasa from King Gustav of Sweden.

Awww fairy how could you ditch a prince, all the fame, all the money. I bet if you would tell that to sister Mary she would think you nuts, she had to work hard for what you maybe could have had easily UB How were Felipe and Pavlos, where they full of themselves or just like every other student?
