I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder... If her husband thinks so, then that's all that matters though. I'm just glad she won't be queen (not sure who should be). To be fair, Fred has dated some pretty women (Katja, Malou for example) and some plain ones (Maria, Bettina for example). Mary is somewhere in between.

Absolutely, like I'll never seen mosh's beauty is even closed to Montel's especially after I read the article posted by Pede above coz, to me, the person's beauty will enhance even more with good inner beauty (which I find mosh is lacked of it but of course again it's my own view )

ANDREW DENTON: Yes. What did... When you first met, what did you see in each other? CROWN PRINCE FREDERIK: What did we see in each other? We saw... Well, it's a bit hard. It's a bit blurry, in a way, because it was just after the Olympics had started and it was one of those evenings where...

Hard to be independent - We are also good for each other in the way that we can both take work gloves on and give it a roach. We are not those that rest on our laurels. It's hard to be independent. And we are thus independent both of them! But it is precisely in difficult periods, we are good to pull up in each other. If one is down, the other is always there to say, 'Come on. Up in the saddle again! '
- I think it's an advantage that Tomas and I grew up somewhat in the same way with the same economic basis. We're just kids. We've both worked since we were 13th I've worked all kinds of places. All. I have stood at the butcher and sold cold cuts, I've sold burgers, I've done clean. So has Thomas. We have been accustomed to handle ourselves. And I can make: Just merrier. But it belongs to our common history that just as well we have to handle up to each other when it's difficult, just as good are we to rejoice together and have a huge upswing when we get to the other side .
Maria is someone who has worked hard to get where she is. She has earned her success. Fred could never understand the concept of earning one's way and the satisfaction one gets from it. Maria and Fred have very different values. I think she would've grown tired of his idle and useless lifestyle if they stayed together. She is wealthy enough now that she could be idle but she continues to work. All of Fred's pre-Mary exes have made something of themselves. It seems that Mary was the best match for Fred in terms of values. She was looking to freeload off someone else rather than build her own career or pay her own way. She is a pretty useless CP compared to others. She hasn't tried to be better at it. If she has, it doesn't show.

I think that Mary is somewhere in between too. Katja was gorgeous and Maria, though sweet, has very dominant canines that could make Dracula jealous.

The similarity between Katja and Mary is quite staggering, and I think it palyed a role in Fred's falling for Mary in any which way he did.

I see Mary as the plainest of Frodo's ladies but, then, we have very beautiful women in Australia. I think Frodo fell for something very different with Mary, and that was the promise of a life partner who understood him. Hence, her rather plain looks (I think she's plain, IMO) faded into the background and Mary, the Frodo Saviour, emerged.

Those mannish features and big frigging flap ears do nothing extra for her. And yes, a for your comment that she thinks she's Frodo's Saviour. Truth is Mary kind of spoiled his party. I could see Fred becoming the Scandinavian Prince Ernst of Hanover, given a few more beers, blondes and birthdays.

She has horrible features and has aged terribly. IMO.

It's probably the only time I'll ever feel sorry for Mary (well, I did feel sorry for her when Frodo cheated on her with the blonde) but all that pretending has taken a physical toll. I cannot imagine, in a million years, how stressful it must be to pretend to be someone other than what you are. Mary's body is rigid in most outings. She never ever relaxes. She purses her lips. Flicks her hair. Touches her index finger to her thumb. Her appearances are constantly characterised by a bizarre display of twitching and itching. She talks in a faux accent and struggles with Danish. She wears shoes and clothes that are regularly too small. As of Graasten, it appears she is regularly raiding a squirrel's nest and sticking hair onto her head with wild abandon. After 10 years of pretending and almost having an internal struggle against her own self..... damn, that has to have an effect on the physical appearance, regardless of the plastic surgery one might have to correct one's flaws.

ITA Add to that all the damage she has probably done to her body with her extreme dieting and skin bleaching creams. Is it really any surprise she looks the way she does?!

I can not see much similarity looking between Katja and mosh but yes to some similarity between Betina and Moshie..brunette, quite chubby face (talking about mosh pre engagement) but Bettina has thing which mosh seems to lack of it, that sweet mega smile a genuine smile which could make other smile too. I guess this post http://royaldish.com/index.php?topic=11329.0 has cleared up why Fred chose Meary in the end over those women. Meary has "something" others didn't. P.S. Read the post at your own peril. What has been heard, cannot be unheard!
