No, the problem it seems is different interpretation is applied for different people, depending on whether s/he is liked or not. If Mary has behaved like what DA did, with all the vulgar language and all, it would have been used as a concret proof of her "bogan" behaviors. I doubt anyone would have excused her language as just "colorful". That's what I find ironic.
What do you mean by No? You want to attack me? Ok, then you should be banned. I am not attacking you? I am trying to end a long winding thread that is going nowhere. Most of us want to move on. I don't agree with you. Simple.(I don't know how Mary got into this conversation but I guess only you know why those two worlds have crossed in your mind) I don't care about your viewpoint. Your excuses mean nothing to me. I don't find your ramblings to have any meaning and your doing exactly to me what some of you did to DA. You bull baiting. It's fine you don't agree with me. I can accept that. Why can't you?

I totally agree with you, Laprincess. Nobody else's language would be excused on this board. ANd if a pro-Mary poster were to use such language, she would be called all sorts.

Are you agreeing she attacks me as well? Do you agree Leesa that I have an opinion or are you two stroking the fire.
We disagree with why DA got banned, so what? Maria would like this to probably end why is it still going on. What is going on here?

Hi CD, no, I just post my own posts, I have no contribution to what others post. I think you two just disagree, and that's OK. People disagree and it's all good!

It seems to me that now that DA is gone, another poster is in the firing line. It's called bull baiting. I respect those who disagree with me and think we should agree to disagree. If you have a problem with my posts just ignore me.
I just feel that this thread has had it's day. There seems to be a wide level of disagreement about DA and that is fine. Continuing with this will only lead to abuse and posters getting banned.

Hi Everyone! I also think that with the cultural and language differences on Royal Dish sometimes it is hard to fully understand the message inside the posts. English is not my first language so I have to read each posts a couple dozen times to understand what a poster is trying to say/express about the Royals. Often I have been guilty of reading too fast and try to reply - sometimes I do feel mad as misunderstood and nearly write hot headed volcanic eruption replies, than I re-read and realise the post is not as abrasive as I originally imagined it to be so I calm down and reply. I think that Diana Again is acting the way that Aussies do - they are very blunt, honest & use colourful/powerful expressions to get the message across. Sometimes it can be perceived as "vulgar, rudeness & obscenity" by other cultures that is more reserved, polite or diplomatic. So those that are not familiar with Australians unless have been here for holiday would not understand and become shock and disgusted. I remember when I first come to Australia to live I was constantly shocked as where I was from we try to be gentle so sometimes beat around the bush to get a message across - which can be frustrating to the reader/listener. But Aussies come out and tell you straight the truth even if it hurt you or make you mad. Aussies never ever sugar coat anything. I believe that there has been many misunderstandings on here because of mainly the culture differences. There is also other differences like gender, education, age, life experiences, a gazillion other differences, etc... it would be nice to try to accept/understanding the differences & respect/loving everyone and treat as individual without any harsh criticism and judgement.

SOrry, but Aussie English is not like that at all. There are many AUssies on the board, myself included, but what you are writing about AUssie English is not true at all. You will find vulgar and ugly language in any culture, but what you are writing is simply not true in Oz. Not in kindy, school, workplace, hobbies, pastime activities or anything else. We are not a bunch of morons who use vulgar language to get our message across at all. WHat you are writing about Austalian English is not true in the least. It doesn't work as an excuse for anyone's horrid behaviour or abusive and aggressive language in Australia. Sorry.
I'm sure you will find speakers of horrific and rude ENglish in Oz, but it depends on who you socialise with. I'm an ENglish teacher in Oz and know what I'm writing here.

I am Australian and my academic and professional background is in language and cultural difference and I just want to make the point that there is no cultural excuse for that particular posting syle which was so offensive, nor for the constant flouting of the one rule of this board.

DA style is not for all but her use of language certainly made one think outside the square. Don't let academic credentials try to sway you as to which style of writing is 'correct' and what is 'incorrect'. It all come down to the individual poster and what they like. A bit like Art. In Australia, a few years ago, an Artist was accused of being a pedophile because he took photos of young children and publicly displayed them. Many I know were horrified(I didn't care for it at all) but others like Cate Blanchet defended him (Artistic freedom). It's all subjective.

That's absolutely true. Which is what Moonstone was posting about; culture and language connection.
