Aren't blow fish full of poison? I seem to recall there's a real problem with them.

Aren't blow fish full of poison? I seem to recall there's a real problem with them. Yes, you are right Leesa. There are special cooks and and very view restaurants in Japan who have ability and the permission to cook them. Pufferfish (= blow fish) are lethally poisonous if prepared incorrectly, but these dishes have become one of the most celebrated and notorious dishes in Japanese cuisine. The pufferfish's poison is not affected by cooking and it does not cross the blood–brain barrier. Once ingested it leaves the victim fully conscious while paralyzing the remainder of the body. The pufferfish itself is not susceptible to the poison due to a mutation of a protein on the cell membranes. And although there was/is extensive research, NO antidote has been found. You eat it - you're done! Isn't it a phantastic comparison though, "full of poison", literarily and metaphorically

How lucky they are that this trip was already in the works so they can excape the Danish media......Per Thornit to the rescue! I doubt the Icon of Culture has any idea what this program is all about -- bet she thinks it will just be another media blitz to celebrate Saint Mary Day
