I always get a "Donald Trump" vibe from W-A - I think it's the dreadful hair.

WA is a good twenty pounds overweight. Slimmer he looks much better, still nothing to keep you awake at night, but better.
Maxima seems to have passed on her contempt for brushes as well as her fly-away thin hair.
Her make-up is horrid and her dress would actually be very nice would it end anywhere near her knees.
And please could anybody tell WA that it is so middle-aged playboy of the eighties to put your hand in the jacket pocket...

A lot of people in Holland see Amalia as the same spoilt little firstborn brat as her father was though.

She's a typical first-born so known to be bossy but I don't see her as being spoilt (especially for a royal child). She's also very protective of her sisters and you can see her holding them and comforting them, etc. Unlike self-centered Christian - when's the last time you see him interacting or showing any protectiveness or concern for Izzy?

i have the feeling that izzy does not want any protection. she seems to know what she wants and does not look one bit afraid. to the contrary.

Well I don't mean "protection" in that sense but look at photos of Amalia with her little sisters - she's holding their hands, hugging them, putting her arms around them, etc. I have never seen a photo of Christian reaching out and doing any of those things with Izzy. He does show affection with Mary but mainly because she spends so time and attention on him, and he laps it all up! With Christian, it's all about me, me, me. Typically narcissistic behavior foster by his upbringing.

Maxima is a pro at selling herself IMO, and this "protective big sister thing" is part of a "perfect family" picture she is selling us. I don't know if Amalia is indeed protective and caring or if she is putting on a show (believe me girls that age can be very good at that!!) but again to me her little sisters do not give the impression that they turn to her for comfort instinctively or feel calmed by her presence. They hardly ever take her hand, it is always her who grabs her sisters. So in my opinion it is not easy to say if it is show or if the little sisters really rely on their big sister.

i don't think that pdas is any indication of how protective or loving a sibling is. could be for show as fairy says. there are indeed kids that know how to put up a good show but are just mean behind the scenes. as there are kids that are truly protective when it's needed but will not put it on for display. not talking about any kids in particular as i also do not think that we can judge their personalities by a few pictures and some videos taken in unnatural circumstances.

Who cares if it's "for show" or not. I'd rather see some kind of interaction between siblings than the cold shoulder and self-absorption Christian gives to Izzy!

Personally I would rather have the same ignorant behaviour on show as off-picture, than some pretend "we love the shitty little bugger that stands to close for my comfort".
But as I said, hard to tell the truth.

If you choose to be cynical towards the motives of a 6 year old, that's your issue. I choose to rather look at the positive!  Grin

I choose to be critical, thats a difference. Call it cynical, but I choose not to buy anything at face value. Esp. not from glossy magazines...

Yes but your critique stems from your cynicism that Amalia is not being genuine and that she's just putting on a show of affection for the cameras. That you got from just looking at a photo - it's irrelevant whether its from a glossy magazine or not. Unless you've seen and have evidence that she's different behind closed doors with her sisters, there is nothing to back up your critique. So again, it just boils down to cynicism - what you choose to believe.

I think in my posts I made it rather clear that I was stating my impression, my perception and my opinion. How I form my personal belief and judgement is rather up to me and therefor I find it quite unnecessary to be called a cynic.
