Pissed off MM leaves press meeting

However, IMO she handled the entire thing very badly. She insulted her hosts by storming out of the event and refusing to answer the question makes her seem immature.

I agree that it wasn't handled in the best way, but she didn't storm from the event itself, but a gathering of press as she was already out of the place. She'd already played plenty nice with the press prior to the picture of her storming off.

Of course Mette-Marit is all pissed off. The reporters were basically calling her fat! When she knows that they know she is not pregnant?

Her reaction is understandable...

Can we please get these same reporters to head to DK and ask Mary why she isn't bigger than she should be?    That's one royal I would like to see get angry and storm off.

Assuming that she was actually storming off, instead of just walking away after concluding her press conference.  Which leads me to wonder, did all the TV cameras suddenly stop working when she stormed off?  Because it seems strange that there wouldn't be video if something like that happened.  Seems even stranger that Dagbladet wouldn't mention it in its story if one of its reporters asked the question.

It's also interesting that this story appeared in one of the several Danish papers that also reported MM was pregnant at the beginning of her and Hakkon's trip last week.  Why is the Danish media so concerned about the state of MM's uterus instead of wondering why their own crown princess barely looks pregnant? 

Unless . . . maybe MM is Mary's surrogate.   That would explain a lot.

I'm surprised that she would risk antagonising the press. I think she does have a  bit of a temper- she was  abusive to a PA when she ( MM)  had a panic attack on the plane once.
On the other hand it is a rude and stupid question to ask any woman as we are alll differnt shapes and sizes.

In an ideal world, all royals would handle every question graciously and never be unpleasant to the press.

Of course, that's not the case at all , and I think MM's behavior is relatively excusable.  The reporters were far ruder than she was.  Didn't we all learn as children that you never ask a woman if she's pregnant?  Were they raised in a barn?

This is what I was wondering. Who is saying she "stormed off"? I feel for her in the respect that she has been a part of an important event to her, one where she understands the implications on others' lives, and here someone calls her fat by asking if she's pregnant (maybe even with her having recently experienced either a miscarriage or fertility issues). I get being upset. We don't know how she actually handled the situation, and norwegianne (who I take is "on site") has been clear about the difference between being rude to the event hosts (sounds like she wasn't) and taking control of the press conference from the reporters. She may have reacted in the only adult way one could when things spun downward: be firm and call it off.

First of all, RO met her in Oslo, during the Nobel Peace Ceremony in 2008, not in London.

Secondly, RO concluded MM was rude to HER because she did not respond to a comment RO made (I think about New York). So in RO's OPINION, she was not polite because she didn't make small talk with RO as opposed to the other VIPs there.
