Vielen dank royalfan (it seems I'll have to wait a few hours to give the star, but I'll remember) Since we were talking about sayings, here are some rather new Swedish ones Blod är rödare än vatten - blood is redder than water Den man ligger med får bädda - the one you sleep with will do the bed (version of "som man ligger får man bädda" - as you make your bed you will lay, meaning, what you sow is what you'll harvest) Boken är en bra vän även när den vänder ryggen till - the book is a good friend even when it turns its back on you Den som gräver en grop åt andra använder ofta spade - the one who's digging a hole for others, is often using a shovel Den som lever får te, sa kinesen - Those who live will [get] thee, said the Chinese Är det inte det ena, så är det det andra, sade flickan som blödde näsblod - If it's not one thing, it's the other, said the girl with a nosebleed. Arga katter får rivet skinn - Angry cats get scratched skin Det är bara att bryta ihop och gå vidare - just break down and move on Man skall inte kasta spjut i radhus - Thou shall not throw spears in townhouses version of "not throw stones in a glass house" Har man slagit yxan i båten får man ro som fan - have you hit the axe in the boat you must row as fan (the devil, common ugly word. "Som fan" like the devil is often used to express a surprise, "really? that's som fan!) Har man tagit fan i båten får man ro honom i land - Have you let the devil onto your boat you must row him ashore, meaning, if you've started something, you have to finish even if it's not pleasent. Har man tagit kärringen i båten får man ro som fan - have you let the missis into your boat you must row like fan.

Terrorist attacks against IKEA Several explosions has taken place in different IKEA stores around Europe. In Eindhoven, Netherlands, a trash bin exploded, in Gent, Belgium, two pallets exploded in the store department, in Lille, France, an alarm clock exploded. The same explosives were found at the three sites No word of it in the press here... Maybe a blackmail thing, like there was years ago against the Deutsch Bahn or Food mechants where poisoned jams where put in the shelves? I love Billy! I can put shelves together! But maybe an underpayed, overworked member of staff who wanted the day off...

Are there any Wasas? the Swedish Vasa dynasty became extinct in the 17th century. A side branch, af Wasaborg, (illegitimate) died out in 1754. The Polish royal branch, Waza, became extinct in 1672. I guess it's either Leijonhufvud, Thott, Sparre or Oxenstierna that are the most prominent families Edit; Night and Day + Stenbock should definitly be on that list

Cameos first royal possessorHere you will see what an interesting painting of Queen Josefina of Leuchtenberg, wife of Oscar I, that I found at the city auction at Stockholm's auction house. The painting is the work of Bertha Valerius (1824-1895) and will now be sold at an auction end on 21 March ... We have seen the cameos lots of times. It is perhaps the most famous diadem used by the Swedish royals. Not least because both Queen Silvia and Crown Princess Victoria, both carried it on their wedding days. And so it's been with for a number of Nobel Celebrations of course! But the Cameo diadem's very first royal owner was Queen Josefina. She brought it with her to Sweden when she married Oscar. And she had inherited it from her grandmother Josephine, Napoleon Bonaparte's wife. With cameos set in red gold and pearls, and with stylized palm leaves in an antique style this tiara was the ideal gift of the highest fashion in the early 1800s Paris.
Queen Josefina posthumous gifted the cameo tiara to her daughter Eugenia. And where could their royal history to have run out. Eugenia wanted to sell parts of her heritage to build a home, the nation's first institution for disabled children. That did not happen. She kept the cameos and bequeathed them to her favorite nephew, Prince Eugen. He gave them as a wedding gift to Sibyl, when she married Prince Gustaf Adolf 1932. After her death in 1972, cameos were inherited by King Carl XVI Gustaf. Between the royal events the cameos rest in their original schatull of red moroccan wood labeled with company name Nitot. And one day we guaranteed to see them on the princess Estelle - don't you think?

And now for something completely different, the unusual story of the Ferrari once owned by prince Bertil. I was reminded of this as an expensive model maker is about to release 1/43rd scale copy of it. Prince Bertil bought himself a Ferrari 250 Pininfarina in 1957. To be exact, a 250 GT Speciale PF Coupe (S/N 0853). The car was light blue like a lot of his cars (including the Porsche 911 now owned by CP). It must have been a seriously expensive car, with a lot of unique custom features and special bodywork. Prince Bertil drove the car for about 40,000 km. In 1966 he dropped it off for service at Pozzi, the Ferrari dealer in Paris. He never returned to pick it up and it apparently just sat there for 40 years before being bought by an American who fully restored the car. How can you forget to pick up your expensive Ferrari?

I agree with them I know Vicky has many admirers, but I wonder if things would be better with a new RF. Maybe, maybe not. On the other hand, I've never been very fond of the Holstein-Gottorps either - loosing Finland Those who want a new dynasty, which ones do they want? Oxenstierna? Bonde? Revive the Kalmar union or the Sweden-Norway union? (Had it not been for Mosh, I would have voted for Kalmar x2 ). The Danes still has a part of the Swedish crest in their crest, as a statement "everything that happend in 1536 is still illegal and we're the true rulers of Sweden" You would've lost it anyway, eventually. It was never yours! I find it kind of funny that bunch of people are arguing who is more noble than the other. The only reason they have the system in the first place is because someone was elevated above the other at some point, maybe because they were skilled at something. It doesn't mean their descendants were. They are all just people, not blue blooded aliens (or are they...? ). I also find it funny that a family line is considered extinct if there's no direct male line alive. As we all know, a father is more uncertain than a mother.
