I know we have pics of them already in another thread, but I thought since more will come up, we can keep it all together in this one Here are some info and a video (mid-page) .... and obviously I had to use the google-trans for the interview NRK met his family in Dzongu in the state of Sikkim, northeastern India.
Crown family ladar up for Christmas, among Buddhist monks far out in rural Dzongu, in northeastern India. But some home medical traditions are still with the Christmas celebration under clear skies. -> It will be Christmas gifts. And then my mom sent with Christmas cakes and stalks me like that to me, laughing Crown Princess Mette Marit.
She is waiting for the oncoming watch team from the royal escort. They come, in fact, with Christmas surprises from the mother in Kristiansand. -> There comes a bit from home, from grandparents on both sides, "said Crown Prince Haakon, who knows that the Queen has sent Christmas stockings with the children.
Some traditions will never be careless with the royal family.
Special Permission to enter Dzongu The Royal globetrottarane has been on the road for a month. The journey started in Istanbul in Turkey, where Hagia Sofia was the big goal.
So went the journey eastward. In India, among other things, they visited Jodphur and now Sikkim, the former kingdom, which in 1975 became the 22 state in India.
Dzongu is a protected area for indigenous Lepcha of Sikkim state in northeastern India. The valley lies at the foot of the Himalayas and is bounded to the north in Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan in the west to the east. It lives about 7,000 people in Dzongu.
Lepcha-people still have the benefits of households, living on what they grow themselves.
You need special permission to enter Dzongu. The area was opened to tourists for a few years ago. There are no hotels, but some families have opened their homes for so-called "homestay" where travelers can stay and eat with their families.
Simple conditions -> We found a family that had a "home stay" so we could live at home with family. We decided to make detm, and it has been incredibly nice, "said Crown Princess Mette-Marit on why they chose to travel to Dzongu.
The valley is a troublesome car journey up into the mountains. At the foot of the mighty Himalayas Lepcha indigenous people live in this protected area.
Here, people live from what nature provides, and all visitors must add hotel comfort aside and live in the same way as simple citizens. This is a sharp contrast to the luxury of his family have experienced in other parts of the journey. -> We have been and seen many beautiful castles and fine tourist destinations, and we have also a desire to learn more about how people live here. This means that we can come closer into the everyday lives of ordinary indian and that we learn a little more about what it's like to live and stay here, and how the world's species for indian public, says Crown Prince Haakon.
They present themselves as Mette and Prince, but is taken contrary to the royal they are everywhere. When they come to morgonbøna in the local Buddhist monastery, the monk primary health care with colorful KHAD, shawl showing that guests are warmly welcome.
Enjoy being a teacher The family has traveled in Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist areas. Religion has thus been a natural part of home teaching and princess must complete the journey.
Are they combine vacation experiences to teach children so the goal was? -> Yes, I will say we have done. The Crown Prince has done an incredibly good job. I've also been with, but the Crown Prince has been very, very clever. Marius had tentamen yesterday. He had tentamen Norwegian, and it went well.
And the crown prince thrive as a teacher? -> Yes, very good. Comes well into the curriculum, "said Crown Prince Haakon and laughs.
Crown Prince believes travel experiences give children an insight into how people live differently in the world. -> We get a practical insight into religion. It is very easy to read into things, but when you get a practical insight you will get a greater holistic understanding of what I think has been very exciting and nice. We have been involved in some, especially the Buddhist ceremonies which I think has been very exciting and very educational.
Secret Christmas Very many at home in Norway wonder where they will celebrate Christmas? -> We do not want to say anything about since it is not Jule yet, but we will in any case to have a different Christmas Eve than we usually have, "said Crown Prince Haakon decided.
Neither he nor the Crown Princess will have something to say about the onwards journey. Apart from that the rules themselves.(source: http://www.nrk.no/nyheter/1.7435382)

ANDREW DENTON: Yes. What did... When you first met, what did you see in each other? CROWN PRINCE FREDERIK: What did we see in each other? We saw... Well, it's a bit hard. It's a bit blurry, in a way, because it was just after the Olympics had started and it was one of those evenings where...

I appear to have missed this. Haakon, M-M and the kids are away for the next 2 months?!
I think it's wonderful (and admirable) that Haakon and M-M want their children to explore foreign cultures at such a young age and are doing so by opting for homestays etc. IMO it's important for children to see and experience places that are different to their own environment.
However, I don't understand why they couldn't simply do this during their usual summer vacation? Are they going to be forfeiting 2011's summer break and work instead or will they take that time off then as well? I think it's wrong that a CP couple is discarding their public duties so they can go on a long holiday when they have plenty of opportunity to do so during the rest of the year.

ITA Little Star!! Especially since the kiddies are missing school, plus it's Nobel Peace time (definitely when the the world looks to Norway) AND Christmas/New Years!! Summertime would have been much more less impactful on their normal schedule/life.

I'm 100% in agreement with everything you said, Little_star. Are they going to be forfeiting 2011's summer break and work instead or will they take that time off then as well? What do you think?

Yes I noticed they called him a prince! And I can forsee a lot of girls calling him that soon. They don't get that many princes in Switzerland, so I suppose they are not so critical about the status. Mette Marit told the Journalist that Haakon is teaching the kids and is doing a very good job as a teacher. I think it's a wonderful idea to show them that the world is a bigger place than just their country, and that there are very different ways to live and believe. Summer would have been very unconfortable for them in India, as it would have been very hot and wet in some places. To me, these people come as close as it gets to a perfect family.

It must be a Karma thing. Somehow Norway did good deeds in the past and received this CP family as reward. And they are travelling in my favourite corner of the world. Sigh. I wonder if the norwegians know how lucky they are... That was the adult part of me speaking. The child is too busy lying on the floor, kicking and screaming. "This' not fair..." over and over again.

I love the karma comment.

Perhaps someone, Harald's doctor(?) gave them a gentle hint: If you want to do something as a family, it may be a good time now? And with Marius on the brink of teenage hell, this could be the last peaceful time they have together as a family... Personally I would chip in to have our CP couple do the same. Sans the pictures. Just go. Now. And take all the time you want.
