That is the best thing of Alexandrine tiara, the dangle diamonds sparkling a lot when the wearer moves

I love this tiara it is so delicate. Even though it is old, it works well with today's hairstyles.
It also works well with many style of gala gowns (even with the cheongsam which is not a European one) Thumb up

It really is AMAZING to see a massive tiara that's been missing for 30 years...especially when it puts Mary to shame

QEII needs to clean out her closet! More tiaras! MORE!

WOW!  I'm usually not a fan of the huge tiaras (Silvia's Braganza, MT's monstrosity, etc.) but this one is absolutely gorgeous!!! Thumb up

How did MC get it?

I believe that this is called the Mellerio Shell Tiara.  I'm not sure about its origins.  I've seen Sofia and Cristina wearing it quite a bit.  I also think I've seen it on Letizia once or twice.

EDIT:  Here's some info:

I hope she included tweezers on the wedding registry. That is a serious set of eyebrows.

Oh, yes, thank you! I have seen Sofia wear this but it looked more bronze in this photo -- didn't recognize it a bit!

googling made in 1867 bought by Queen Isabella II of Spain  for the Infanta Isabel, Princess of Asturias, on the occasion of her wedding.

Infanta Isabel

The Infanta died childless, and left the diadem to her nephew Alfonso XIII.
His wife Queen Victoria Eugenia used the Mellerio Shell tiara  in one public occasion, as only once did her daughter in law, the Countess of Barcelona, wear it.

Queen Victoria-Eugenie of Spain (1887-1969)

Countess of Barcelona - mother of KJC - left is Queen Victoria -Eugenie with Fleur-de-Lys tiara

The tiara was a wedding present from the Count and Countess of Barcelona to Princess Sophia of Greece and Denmark, who was seen with the Shell tiara for the first time in her pre-wedding ball.

a lot of pictures of QSofia wearing this tiara, QS lent the tiara to her SIL, her daughters and her daughter in law, pictured here also
