Safe??? That is the less of my concern, for me they can stay there!! After what is going on in Lybia we don't need The Oranges attending private dinners with criminals!! Here in NL there are many business of Gadaffi and is now is known the amunitions if his army is provided by Dutch companies!!

Is the Sultan of Oman a criminal, the likes of Ghaddafi? I never thought of him as such.

Well, Oman isn't unstable like Lybia, Tunesia or Egypt. The Sultan isn't a 'criminal' or dictator like Gadaffi. There are no riots in the country, just protests. And the protests are not directed towards the Sultan.

I didn't know there were protests even in Oman these days. Why was it so important for them to be there right now..? The situation in the country may not be that bad or dangerous, but the timing isn't ideal .

They were supposed to go on a state visit next week to Oman, but it was delayed until a new date a few days ago.
And yes, there are protests, but not as much or as heavy in other countries in that area. For example: the king of Bahrein allows to shoot at the protesters.

It wasn't cancelled, it was postponed (that was the word I was looking for) until a later date. See: http://koninklijkhuis.nl/..._aan_Oman_uitgesteld.htmlAnd what they have to do in Oman? I have frankly no idea. But the Queen is not the only one to blame for the decision to have a private dinner, despite the visit being postponed. According to various news sources it was our prime minister who told the Queen that it would be a wise idea to have this private dinner (why postpone the state visit then?). Anyway: postponed is postponed in my view, so this dinner isn't the brightest to do.

Beatrix made the decision, not Rutte!! She is the one with the interest of going and Rutte accepted!!
