Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel Wife of Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Interview on NBC-TODAYSHOW:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkxnG8bRVY4

Wow thanks so much for this.  It's lovely to hear her voice and to see that she's more than a pretty face (I totally envy her hair).  I like that she's campaigning for something so concrete like Saudi women's right to drive.   Thumb up

Here's another video.  She's looks perfect from head to toe!  Beautiful: http://www.youtube.com/wa...LNWOI&feature=related

Another video-interview.  Rather awkward questions the lady is asking: http://www.youtube.com/wa...R6VRA&feature=related

Ameerah can dress it up however she likes. Saudi Arabia is one of the most repressive societies in the world for women and they continue to export their brand of Islam across the globe.

This is a clip from a BBC series called "The Frankincense Trail." I think this was the 2nd ep out of 4 and it seemed like one long PR stunt for the Saudi RF, in particular Prince Waleed.

I remember seeing one video of them where she was sitting there fully made up with an older friend, while he ignored her and seemed to be on his computer.  If their relationship is progress it speaks volumes about Saudi and about the Saudi he wants to move to?

Do you think that the Schools of Islamic Studies al-Waleed established at Georgetown, Cambridge, and wherever else espouses Wahhabism?  I know this is the modus operandi of the Saudi RF, to finance mosques and Islamic schools to spread that horrible brand of Islam, but I always hoped that al-Waleed was a bit different.

Quite frankly if there's Saudi money involved I'm wary. I've seen firsthand the kind of damage that Saudi-funded madrassas etc can cause.

However, having said that I don't know the specifics of the various institutions set up, so it wouldn' be fair to judge.

very well said Star Star
the reality about women is ugly in SA i don't thing a pretty face like Amira can change anything, infact she don't have the power to change nothing it's a deep and crude male attitude toward women wich need a real revolution to be fixed.
what make me sad is how they rely all their bad treatment to Islam.

Rita who is that in your avatar?

Just wanted to say that the princess is stylish and absolutely gorgeous.  As for arrangement with her husband in regards to him not wanting to have kids.  I guess she doesn't want them; she knew what she was getting into when she married him.

I hope that one day women in Saudi get to drive and get to vote.

No kids was not going to stand in the way as a deal breaker. She will be his gorgeous arm candy till she is in her early thirties, then he will want someone younger and she will want kids. They will part ways, he with a new giftwrapped lovely waiting for him  and she with a big payout and the potential to remarry and have kids. Marriage isn't about hearts and celestial music to everyone - to some it is a deal, a transaction. That doesn't mean it isn't fun or lust filled but ultimately both parties don't have any delusions about their motives or those of their spouses.

Huda - great post which I read with interest, until you let yourself down with the defence of your own discriminated against status. If you lived in the UK and there was a law saying everyone is allowed drive but for Muslims it is illegal, would you say "Fair enough, I'll get a driver, no problem". I doubt it - you would probably be angry that you were being discriminated against and whether or not you could afford a driver would be beside the point. It would be the principle of being excluded that mattered. So why are you happy to be excluded as a woman?
