How do they get away with this!
This topic has come up for discussion on other royalty boards especially when continental royals are compared to the British royals. From what I recall the British royals count their engagements differently than other houses. ie: Queen Beatrix and Queen Elizabeth have identical engagements: Go to a military base and greet the commanding officer. Inspect troops and view tanks, trucks etc...Meet with military family services. Have lunch with base members. Unveil a plaque to commemorate the visit. Depart. Now apparently the continental royals view this as one engagement but the British would count the meet and greet, troop inspection, family service visit, lunch and unveiling as separate and distinct acts/engagements. So I guess I'm trying to say that those 250 engagements would have included many more activities than meets the eye.

I would say 250 are not that less. I think Mary and Fred did not as many in the past 7 years....

No matter how you count the acts, the BRF have been a lot more active than the Dutch, Belgian, Norwegian or Danish RF. Camilla was called the laziest woman in England by one of Charles' assistants, she is a busy bee compared the two CPsses in the Scandinavian countries. But this year Maxima seems to work more, perhaps after the criticism of her and hubby spending too much time abroad, not doing enough last year.

Totally agree! The Dutch are clearly delusional and blind where their royals are concerned. (except for this Forum's distinguished member Winx of course, and, disclosure, I'm Dutch myself but live in the States, a good thing so that I don't have to pay for Max's prada bags.). I always wonder: how long are the good Dutch people going to accept this charade? Max works part time, at best. Of course, compared to Myra, she's the epitome of crown princess-y altruism, what with her passion for all things microfinance. Compared to British Princess Anne however, Max's work ethic is

She has stated in public several times, that she wants to spend time with them as well, so yes, like many young mothers, she works parttime. Not all royal children are completely raised by nannies these days, thank God for that....

There is nothing wrong with working part time to be with your kids. But if Max does indeed work part time, why oh why does she then get the big-ass salary associated with a full time gig? If you want to work part time, great: but working part time and earning what's essentially a full time salary, is hypocritical, self-important, and just wrong wrong wrong

I don't just mean the money they get, but living in the palaces for free, luxurious lifestyles, endless travel and vacations? I do not think so.

Sorry, I apologize if it seemed that way, when I said 'you' in the post, I meant it as in, 'one'.
