Do we know if the 2nd and 3rd tiara on the right still are in the DRF's possession? It says the belonged to Queen Alexandrine.

found the second one (Sapphire) too: it's Countess Anne-Dorte of Rosenborg's - Daisy's cousin by marriage

This beautiful sapphire and diamond tiara has a special royal history.

It was originally a wedding present to the mother of Queen Alexandrine. Her mother was the Grand Duchess Anastasia of Russia and she married the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin.

Then it was a sapphire necklace that could also be used as a tiara. But when it had been given to Princess Caroline-Mathilde, she had the elements moved around a bit, and some diamonds and diamond elements were added. Count Christian inherited the tiara from his mother, Princess Caroline-Mathilde.

found the 3rd one as well (Danish Fringe Tiara) on this blog http://nobleyreal.blogspo...12/fiesta-de-fringes.html

translated: http://translate.google.c...%2Ffiesta-de-fringes.html

The Tiara fringe that belonged to the Grand Duchess Anastasia Mikhailovna Romanova of Russia, granddaughter of Nicholas I, it was presented by her uncle, Tsar Alexander II, when Anastasia married the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Her daughter Augusta Alexandrina of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, consort of Christian X of Denmark, inherited the tiara from her Russian mother and then bequeathed it to her second son, Canute, Prince of Denmark. Today, the tiara is owned by the grandson of Alexandrina, Count Christian of Rosenborg, son of Canute.

before mary alteration the rubies were more visible and the tiara was just mazing, now with more diamonds, for me it lost a lot of its beauty

Thanks for these up close historical photos recording the changes to the Ruby Parure.
It certainly looks more delicate in it's original form.
I think it matches the necklace better in the older form.

The photos show me that the most changes were made to this tiara by Queen Ingrid.
She added more diamond leaves.
It seems that Mary removed the very end leaves that were too long for her and moved one leaf from the top to the middle of the tiara.  The rubies appear to be in the exact place where Ingrid preferred them.

I like this tiara best worn in dark hair.  I like the contrast.

Mary should leave leaves in Ingrid form and just change the base if it didn't fitted to her head. Now whole 'spirit' is gone.

for Yrma it's not getting something and keeping it in memory of the person before. For her it is to getting something and changing it as soon as possible to fit only her needs.

Historical pieces should not be messed around with, IMO.

i am not fond of the changes that were made neither by ingrid nor by mary, but it's nothing unusual for royals to alter historical jewelry pieces. ingrid did it to the tiara loooong before mary.

i actually think that ingrid's changes are much more radical than mary's.

i must admit that i am not fond of ingrid's tiara version but i understand why she changed it.
it was a bit tiny compared to the rest of the parure.

i do like the tiara as it is in the pic below.

very true. Ingrid added one of the brooches (left picture, right side of her chest) to make it more substantial.

QMII stated that Queen Ingrid changed the tiara to suit her ..... position then as Queen and/or Dowager Queen.
When QMII mentioned Mary changing the tiara, she just said that it could be done - not that it should be done nor that she would have done it.
I believe QMII is sentimental to the Ruby Parure for the memories of Queen Ingrid.
IMO, Mary should have left it alone.  To preserve it's historical significance.
And there's definitely more important things to worry about than the look of a tiara.
Maybe Fred's second wife will be more respectful of Danish history and QMII - not to refer to QMII as "my mother-in-law".

ALthough considering Mary's lack of respect towards her MiL at times I cannot say I am too surprised.

I can't tell much difference in the before and after. The "after" version just looks a little more smooshed together. Doesn't look like there was a radical change to it.
