I can't tell much difference in the before and after. The "after" version just looks a little more smooshed together. Doesn't look like there was a radical change to it.
yes, that's totally right, SQ. The most radical change was made by Ingrid herself, when she added one big brooch to make her tiara more substantial - here is a better view Ingrids version (before) still had gaps inbetween the leaves and rubies. Mary took the top diamond leave off and several leaves & rubies from both ends to make it even more dense - in her version (after) everything is much tighter, if that makes sense.

well, aside from that PDNETD, I think she also changed it to make it look bigger as though to be competitive with other CPss.
O'l Dais is too greedy with her jewelry, and the ruby tiara is the only one she has for big social events.
I think that was the main reason for the changes. She wants to have the best and the biggest.

The style of Margarethe's diamond and turquoise tiara reminds me of MM's wedding tiara

PeDe,
Thanks for posting the comparisons. Here is my take:
1. Ingrid converted the tiara from a laurel leaf position to a more upright piece using the broaches. Notice how her hair is like QEII's? I can imagine Ingrid in the Vladimirovna tiara which is high and sits forward. Everything is balanced. 2. When Yrma got it, she wore it more like a headband. To wear it upright, she had to slaughter several animals to make the extra hair to add to hers to balance the height of the tiara. 3. When Yrma altered it, she made it look wider overall and more compact between the leaves, making her face and head wider in the process. It is trying to look like a Kokoshnik tiara, but the height is missing at the center.
Conclusion: If you are not born royal (or have experience wearing tiaras on a regular basis), leave the jewelry alone!!
