Gosh, Silvia is working hard these days, impressed that she is coping actually.

So, all of a sudden Madde & Chris decided to "surprise" Mom and Dad to show up in Wilmington and represent together with them.
Was this after they heard that Joe Biden was going to attend?

From Maddes facebook:

Chris & I decided to surprise my parents by taking the train to Delaware and joining them on their official events on Saturday !!!!
https://www.facebook.com/...MadeleineOfSweden?fref=ts

Why could they not decide this in advanced if they would attend or not?
Or was just not Chris sure of how he would feel on Saturday? So he did not wanna make any obligations- just in case..?  Thinking

Would be nice if Madde could write the names of all the people she meets while out representing Sweden:
Hosting the evening with the Governor of Delaware and his wife.....

I know, it's weired  Crazy Makes me wonder if it's appropriate towards the hosts too... I'm sure they were happy to have more royals visiting but the people arrangeing the whole thing must have sighed silently in irritation. Unless it was only a surprise for CG and Silvia Huh?.

Itīs pretty nice, mostly info bout the royal castles, stables, churches, info about the changing guards, opening hours, happenings, guided tours, how to get here and there etc etc. Mostly an app useful for tourist. But the design is stylish and has an easy "overview".

Smiley can one of experience royal watcher answer this question for me.

Can a member of the SRF have an normal career if he or she had the proper education or drive to hold down a job say as an teacher/ nurse/ doctor/ editor of fashion magazine and still keep the HRH status.

Dose the HRH status prevent them from having a normal job?  I notice some other royal have jobs and still represent the royal house as a part time job. Looks like the biggest representing job they have is the Nobels and if they were not invited to this event then as a royal house would have a lower profile.

For example can CP have a career as industrial designer - full time and still do limited representation.
He's main appearance would be Guest appearance at the Nobels.

Other royals beside the heir have had jobs and show up for major family events and keep their HRH status.

 Thinking thanks

As far as I know there's nothing stopping them from making their own money (at least not CP and Madde), and as far as I know people wouldn't mind it either. The heir I guess should have representation as a full time job. But considering how symbolic the royal positions are today I don't see assignments full time for the whole family. CG/Silvia and Vic/Dan must be able to cover most of it.

Regarding the spares, well to be honest Prins Bertil is the only "spare" there has been for quite some time. CG only have sisters and they are not in the succession order and have never represented much (mostly Christina). The kings' uncles all married the "wrong" women so they lost their titles and "had to" work for a living I guess.
Prins Bertil was mainly in the military if I recall right. Seems like a "proper" career for a Royal  Smiley I doubt people in general in Sweden would mind if CP and Madde had real jobs making real money to reduce the allowance from the taxpayers  Roll Eyes Especially since they don't represent much and honestly don't have any "deeper" tasks (mainly cutting ribbons and giving out awards IMO).
The most meaningful thing Madde has done is giving her face and name to Childhood foundation ("work" is a bit too strong a word) - that's at least for a meaningful cause. CP gave his name and face to a racing team...
Hm, don't know if I answered your questions. Mostly my own opinions here  Wink

Smiley Thank you Ms K, so if they had full time jobs they can still keep their HRH.  I am aware the uncles lost their titles because of unequal marriages.

What will happen when CG and Sylvia can not represent any more due to age. Will Madde and CP step up their involvement in activities.  I think the biggest question revolves around how much each person gets for the amount of time they represent the country.  I have read some royal family's are open abut how much member gets for representation. Hope this makes sense what I am trying to ask.  Is the money tied to the title.

Can they keep the title and still work under the new house rules from 1980 that Vic the heir.
I am a little confused  on this issued.

I understand you want a more concrete answer, not just opinions. Sorry, I can't give you one, but I can do some research and get back to you when I have some time to spare Smiley
The actual king/queen (CG and Vic to be) have some formal (but still ceremonial) roles in the foreign minestry and in the military which might make it difficult to combine with certain kind of jobs, and I would consider being king or queen a "job" Smiley And they should stay as neutral as possible, for example they don't make political statements and word says that they don't vote (they are allowed but choose not to - to stay neutral i assume).
But the spares with HRH are a bit different I guess, they have no formal roles except for being the spare and then their symbolic dutchy. Money wise I do believe the amount given is related to the amount of official representations. The sum... well, I honestly don't know.
