I quite like this picture. If it wasn't for the fact that there are no spontaneous pics of this lot having fun in each others company (that I've seen) I'd say this is a nice formal shot...its knowing that this is as good as it gets that makes you depressed..

The room is rather sterile - no flowers on the mantle, not a hint of cheery color on the couch, etc. "All that's gilded ain't gold."

And how pretentious and self-important is it for them to release an "official" photo before a trip to Australia? Is the trip to Australia so important that they need to mark it with a portrait? Or is the trip so long that they need to make sure Danes don't forget their likeness? *:-|No other royal families are as pretentious as this family.
Mary's so terrified that she'll be ignored so she made sure that a pic was released so that people would recognize her.

I look at other royal families' photos and they usually make me smile. There are connections between parents and kids. Kids are smiling mischievously. There is warmth. I never get that kind of vibe from this family. There's just no warmth and connections among everyone in the photo. Plus, all the muted colors, gray, dusty pink, grayish brown, just make the photo more depressing.

and that's after they made new pics for the US trip plus a website that was less than a month ago! They are obsessed with their image and with trying being in the headlines no other RF is acting like that like a celebrities but It doesn't work no matter how hard they try they are not appealing to the world media

Xtian and Izzy realy grew fast. Izzy is so sweet. Mosh is her usual self. There is no warmth from both, Fred and Mosh. Poor kids...

In mary's attempt to avoid any connection with her true bogan tastes, she has made sure that her entire family is dressed in the most boring, stuffy way imaginable! No wonder Isabella looks miserable!

I like the portrait. We wanted to see a family shot and we got one.

Totally OT, but Louisa, is your avatar from "The Russian Ark", with Tzar Nicolai's family having breakfast ?
Yes, it is

As I said in another thread: such a lovely pic with such lovely colours: happy colours!!! Just too bad that although Mary chose identical colours to the couch, you can still spot her...

I love the photo. The natural colours are cosy. It's cute to see the kids all together. To have four kids sitting still enough for a photo is an achievement. Isabella looks like she'll be straight back into some game as quickly as she can escape. Christian looks as proud as punch and the twins are chubby and adorable. Mary and Fred have managed well. (I wish they had left Mary's wrinkles in under her eyes. I prefer her naturally aging face)
My guess is that they will not have another such shot taken in Australia. I reckon there will only be opportune casual activity shots taken by the press. And an arranged photo session in exchange for some days of privacy.

Yrma usually makes a consolidated effort to make her 'private' Australian trips, very public lupina Indeed, what's the point of coming to Australia if she can't do the mercy dash to the local pharmacy to buy nappies (do we have any photos of her doing the same in Denmark, how strange). Better still now that there are twins - she can buy boy and girls Huggies. I'm still banking on a trip to a baby store to buy the twin stroller. That will get the sugars all caramelised and excited. "WOW, Mary pushes her twins in a STROLLER. She is SO AMAZING. JUST LIKE US. What a fantastic MOTHER pushing her children in a STROLLER'.

Wow, look at the level of color coordination! Each boy-child is wearing a gray sweater over a blue shirt, each girl-child is wearing a pink garment over a white shirt. The elder of each pair is wearing a darker sweater than the younger. Fred is wearing a brown outfit (male version of pink) over a blue shirt, so he matches with both the boys and the girls. Mary is wearing a gray outfit over a pink shirt, so she matches with the boys and the girls. Mary's outfit is the inverse of Fred's outfit. The only screw-up is that Christian should be wearing gray pants, to mirror Mary's pants, because Bella is wearing a brown skirt to mirror Fred's pants.
Well spotted Alice, and welcome to the insane world of Mary and her fetishes............. 'Mix and match' is very special to Mary. She has OCD touch disorder that has been going on for years unresolved, despite having access to Denmark's best therapists Matching colours obsessively is in the same spectrum of OCD. It's her special thing....
