if it's related to the heart it's ANGINA PECOTRIS
tonsillitis in Europe is also commonly referred to as ANGINA.
This time the sugar's are right, it's tonsillitis!
I Didn't know that Pe De, thank you. Tonsillitis is worse than a sore throat. It is miserable to be sick with that. oh, no problem..you are most welcome...and you are right, tonsillitis is miserable, not only can you hardly swollow, but the fever is pretty high too. It's also highly contagious (Streptococci bacteria). If she has it, she should stay away from people, hence her decision to stay at home is a good one.

any form of bronchitis can be very serious....................
I had it, it's one of the two or three times in my life that I was certain I was dying. It was really painful and I had to sleep sitting up...it was the only way I could breathe!

I agree bronchitis is serious because it can lead to pneumonia but Charlene has tonsillitis which is an inflammation of the tonsillitis which may or may not be strep throat. Strep is contagious for three days after that it's not. Most recover in about three days or are well on their way to recovery. I'm not buying the excuse mainly because I don't see the BRF not going to an engagement because of tonsillitis (except the Queen because of her age) and if by chance they were too ill the release would say under Doctors orders the Queen will not be able to attend (or which ever family member it must be). It has been suggested on other forums that perhaps the two lovebirds had a bad fight which to me sounds more plausible for why she isn't going. If she were pregnant, they would be announcing it sooner rather than later. JMO.

That's interesting Hibou, thanks. I never considered the possibility of a quarrel because they have appeared so close and so happy lately. And ICAM that if Charlene was pregnant there would be an announcement as soon as the dangerous first trimester ended.

Although coming from the same root bacterium the strain that causes Angina is Strep Group A and much worse than the strain for ordinary strep throat! Since is is a droplet infection, anybody going around people with a tonsillitis is an idiot, because it is highly contagious. And there are complications like middle ear infections, meningitis, pneumonia. Generally, Angina can take up to 2 weeks, from which the first one is the worst. Like I said, you can hardly swallow, the fever is very high the first days and often times there is pus on the tonsils. Drs prescribe penicillin, and if you are lucky it'll help. I had tonsillitis since I was a child and was treated with penicillin so much that I became allergic to it. The only thing helping now is Cephalosporine or Clarithromycin. Strep throat seems like child play against tonsillitis.

Strep throat seems like child play against tonsillitis. You seem quite knowledgeable, but I have to tell you, my daughter at least once or twice a year ended up with strep or tonsillitis (and still does). With the high powered antibiotics, she was allowed back in school after three days with strep and 5 with tonsillitis. Both are pretty miserable to get. On the other hand the bronchitis which she was also prone to get, on at least two occasions, turned into pneumonia. She was out of school for two weeks. All these were child's play compared to undiagnosed Lyme disease which she contracted the summer before her Junior year in high school and which finally got correctly diagnosed almost 6 months later. It pretty much destroyed her immune system. Thankfully now two years later she's finally getting her system back on track. My warning to all with kids, especially young ones, this can effect every aspect of your child's health including brain processing in young children. Lyme does not always cause a bull's eye rash either which was the case with my daughter, and many doctors either dismiss it or simply don't know what to do. There is a documentary called "Under out skin" which is on Lyme. I highly recommend it. Anyway, I'll get off my soap box. Sorry guys, got carried away!

Hibou.. Oh your poor daughter.. I know how serious Lyme disease is as I live in America part of the year too because our children went to school there and now are married "Yanks' , etc.. and I have so many friends with that terrible disease. One is half paralysed as it got into her spinal cord and so many others with chronic arthritis and memory loss.. You can't have enough platforms to warn people about this disease and it is commonly mis-diagnosed. Better safe than sorry.. Interesting about Charlene.. Angina/ tonsilitis is HIGHLY contagious. So why doent Albert have it He should if he were anywhere near her...just saying.....and if she even kissed him he would get it .. or even drank out of the same cup ... am I being clear?? ha ha On a deeper level ( Thanks to Louise Hay ..my guru ), any throat malady is usually caused because one is holding in angry words or feeling unable to express themselves. ie.. FEAR, Repressed emotions, stifiled creativity.. It seems to me this could be the case as C. is now living a controlled life as she must ACT happy . All one has to do is to think back on her beautiful wedding day as she cried and Albert told her to stop .. She must now show the world a facade . Grace did this well as she was an Acadamy award winning actress ..and this was her ultimate role . Also, C. may have learned more of A's exploits and ?? Does anyone remember them cancelling a dinner in New Zealand ( Rugby finals) where they were to be guests of honor LAST minute..?

continuing on.. Friends of mine at that dinner said it was quite a faux pas as people had paid to attend and A. and C just didnt show and it was uncovered they had gotton into a huge fight .. thus confirming what someone else posted about C. not going to South Korea .. perhaps a domestic dispute? and anger leads to the sore throat too so one begats the other... Moving on to a pregnancy... Guess Akaris will soon be designing a maternity line and then .. baby clothes.. what does anyone else think?? Children born in loveless marriages dont have a chance so let's hope the burdens of this deal dont fall on the next generation. Doenst Caroline look great?? Such class and beauty and she is confindent enough to age on her own terms ..

Does anyone remember them cancelling a dinner in New Zealand ( Rugby finals) where they were to be guests of honor LAST minute..? OK, I love this post! Where do I even begin? I want to hear MORE, much more about problems with the throat and repressed emotions. Psychosomatic illness really intrigues me. And I would completely believe it with Charlene. Who is this Louise Hay? As for lime disease ... that is NO joke. My husband got it two years ago after going on a sleepover in the woods with one of our kids. Doctor at first misdiagnosed When he told me, "they said I have a sinus infection, but I feel like I'm going to die," I dragged him straight to an ER and a whole bunch of bloodwork later they said it was an insect born illness. We never found a bulls eye. Years ago when my baby was out playing in the front yard I brought him in for a bath and undressed him. I found a tic on his upper back. I lunged at that ------- and pulled it off with my bare hands, all legs and all.

Thanks brilliantstarshining. I didn't mean to get everyone off topic of Charlene, but having seen the disease up close I thought I would bring it up. All I can say is don't hesitate to question your Dr. and also the internet is a great place to find information on it. Anyway, back to Charlene. Quite interesting about the throat and emotions. It makes sense if one is feeling like they are being choked. I wonder if Albert has tonsils. He's at the age when they took everyone's tonsils out when they were young.

Tonsilitis is awful and I was always prone to those infections that I could hardly eat as a kid. Had my tonsils out at the age of 10. many moons ago I might add. lol As I said earlier in this thread I don't believe that she is sick. She and baldie had words. IMO

Well, I do hope Charlene is not pregnant and taking antibiotics at the same time, since that can cause some fetal difficulties - IIRC, formation of teeth is affected.
Then again, that might be the least of the worries around a child of this purchased merger.

BWW... Louise HAy has written numerous best selling books , but her most famous is "YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE".. In the appendix it lists multiple health issues, what causes them and a mantra you can say to heal.. believe me .. IT WORKS.. I have given dozens of these books to friends and you can find it in most bookstores .. absolutely facinating as is her own story... FYI ... STUTTERING..is caused by insecurity and LAck of self expression.. not allowed to cry.. mmmmmmmm sounds right on to me... ( making this relevant to Monaco). Wonder when Charlene will cut her ties to South Africa and become a Princess of Monaco? Glad she will recover from her "illness" in time to support the SA swim team . ALso, if you are flying in an ( environmentally wasteful ) private jet you dont have to worry about infecting people around you like one would if flying "public" and the drugs would make her non - contagious in a day or so... she still might not feel good , but.... just petit pensees...

I wonder is "Fete Dieu" the same as Corpus Christi here in the U.S.? It's the only Catholic holy day I can think of that's coming in the next couple of weeks. Charlene has neglected her French, but she does seem sincere in her attempts to practice her new religion so far...
