The garden is beautiful. But other than that, both the exterior and the interior are seriously outdated and were not very well done in the first place. They would have to spend a lot more money to update it.
Well now there's a bright spot...Laprincess, congratulations on reaching your milestone and keep up those fab posts!!!! Star Thumb up Yes Jumping

That is a beautiful place to stay.

I read the article but I couldn't see anywhere that reported who the buyer was.
I assumed that the house was rented from the real estate office.
Time will tell!

The new owners are very lucky who ever they are.  What a lovely garden!

Wow Cloaked you and I are very different! I was just thinking how new and banal the garden is! Bought turf, firs sitting oddly astride the entrance, and cheap stonework! Not to mention an unmentionable willow ... bought quasi-topiaried young trees, again, boringly evenly spaced, standard cheap box, dull borders, and some tanbark ... echh! Who uses tanbark!!! I can't see any fine old specimens in this garden! ... No flower beds ... no shrubbery .... no fine old trees ... I think it's a horrid garden! I can't believe you have country cousins if you're impressed by this garden! Maybe your cousins all live in town ...

The interior of the house may need some updating.  However, I'd much rather live in that house "as is" than in the palace that Fred and Mary decorated.

Thumb up I feel exactly the same way. I wouldn't want that house for myself but it would be perfect for someone as trashy as Mary. She probably loves it as is,after all look at what she did to the palace  Dead but if it takes a little cash to fix it up and get rid of her then it's worth it.

Exactly, a house for annual visits only ? Let's hope that Boganvilla (great name, Iron Butterfly  ) will become Mary's permanent residence...

I can imagine Gail Petrusma (agent) using the words vintage, eclectic, modern twist, to sell that to Mary!!  Laughing

In other words buy it for the price as it is and gutted from the inside out!!

I was under the impression, from the article, that the house was owned by someone else and they rented it to M&F?

Something strange, though, is that the property was sold in Oct 11, but does not settle until February. I wonder why the buyers wanted such a long settlement? That's unusual.

Also, the house must have still been full of furniture when M&F rented it. The previous owner, Jane Patten, must have used the house as a holiday home.
