Title: An old film showing the queen wearing Bea's wedding dress
Post by: bumbershoot on June 18, 2022, 06:29:54 AM
Today on YouTube I came across a film of the Queen's speech from the throne at Parliament in 1966. To my surprise, she was wearing the frock that was later remade and became Bea's wedding dress. It was nipped in a bit more at the waist than when Bea wore it, I think. And oh my, it did sparkle under the lights.   Here's the link:

An excellent find, bumbershoot! The Irish State Coach was fit for a Queen!

I couldn't believe how much it sparkled. Didn't get that impression when it was transformed into a wedding dress, but then, it was then seen in the daylight rather than under artificial lights that were probably high wattage for fiilming.  I wonder if Bea ever saw this video and that's what inspired her?
