It's all very self destructive behaviour. Sad

Btw, The Louvre is awesome. I've been lucky enough to go there twice. AddiesGirl, you MUST visit if you ever get the chance. Paris is a fantastic city and even when it's not the reputation the parisiens have, I found that many went out of their way to be super helpful to us.

The Louvre is overwhelming, you have to visit it more than once to do all justice. I have been there about 2 - 3 times. BTW I was surprised with how small the Mona Lisa is Tongue :D

LOL - we would have missed the Mona Lisa if there hadn't been 100s of people queuing ... not very impressive compared to the other paintings IMO.

That's interesting to know about the Mona Lisa, I had an image of it being about 2' x 3.5'. I think I would need at least a couple weeks in Paris, I'd want to go to the flea markets and some nice restaurants as well as every museum! So better start saving my pennies   I never believe what people say about the French, I think it depends a lot on how tourists treat the natives in any country. If you go in acting like you're hot stuff and taking everything for granted and being pushy then yeah, you're going to have a bad reaction.

Back on topic: I think Silvia and CG both spoiled CP way too much to compensate for his birthright being stolen Snare Silvia seems like an old fashioned lady who treats men and women differently because that was how she was raised and then she married a misogynist who reinforced her lopsided view of the sexes. Add to that the fact that some women see their daughters as competition for attention and it's easy to see how she could have preferred and coddled CP leaving him emotionally and mentally soft and spoiled and really handicapping him in his ability to make logical life decisions. I always felt that Viccan was the "odd one out" and ITA with what you said. In the 70s and 80s Silvia was incredibly popular in Germany, I remember one day how my mom bought a magazine with an interview and Silvia explained in it that there were only sweets one day a week and a very limited amount of them for her kids. I was a kid back then and Viccan is way younger than me. My mom and her friends were so impressed that they tried that ... for us it was a few sweetless weeks, then summer rolled on and we had way too much ice cream again.

But I think Silvia always thought that she would be judged and measured on how well Victoria would turn out - which IMO let to so much pressure amd restrictions on Viccan that she imploded and started obsessivly self-controlling which ended in a eating disorder.

Silvia and CG tried to get rid of Dan by trying not to accept him (remember how he had to stand in the crowd at Viccan's birthday and other things). Dan was simply "not good enough". Basically Viccan did the same as CP - she chose an unsuitable partner - but other than her brother she picked someone who loved her so much that he just hung in there and waited through all the opposition. As his "deficites" were only education wise, things turned out great.

As you said ... she does not perceive the snakes deficits as so severe ... because she is a woman. But a woman marrying "down" instead of "up" like Viccan did was against Silvia's view of the world.

I mean, I'd be happier if the caption with the photo was: "New photo of Queen Silvia taken on June during the Stockholm 1980s Nostalgia Summer Festival was released by German journalist Michael Begas." Or something about her going through her endless closet where she's stashed absolutely everything she has ever worn and just couldn't help wearing this one from the 1980s because it was so hilarious.

Well, thank goodness the skank didn't ride along on mommy's coat tails. If I never see Snaky being pushed as a child advocate again I will be so relieved.

Silvia visited the Vatican to attend the seminar: "Narcotics: Problems and Solutions of This Global Issue".

Afterwards she attended together with Princess Beatrix and Jaime of Bourbon-Parma the opening of the exhibition "Rembrandt at the Vatican: Images from Heaven and Earth" at the Vatican Museum.

LOL, the caption should have been "New Photo of Queen Silvia taken on movie set released, wearing her costume as fairground fortune teller."
There is no other excuse for such an eyesoring ... eh ... design.

Oh, Beatrix is chic.  Smiley
I've alway liked the Dutch queens though I don't know much about them  Blush (or any royalty) but they do radiate girl power.
My grand mother never spoke about Elizabeth; she spoke about Juliana.

Bea is regal and radiates confidence and happiness. Even in the hard times she had (her husband being sick, loosing him, loosing her son), she showed sorrow, but in a remarkable and strong way. She seems to be at ease with herself. She even handled the Mable situation way cleverer than the Swedes handled Sofia.

Silvia does come across snobbish (a bit) and insecure somehow. She was in Germany today (?) at least lately and she was on TV earlier and her first quote was that the kids she visited were so disappointed she did not wear a crown. Maybe it was supposed to be funny, but she can't talk without it being about "status" somehow. She even refers to her daughter as "the crown princess" in that stiff and outdated way ...
