HM visited Gorgie City Farm in Edinburgh .
And she was quite amused by an itchy pig  Grin

I like the fact that the Queen got to see the ladies with their spinning wheels.

I bet the ladies were delighted that HM saw them.  I like the fact that these traditional crafts are being carried on so people today can see how fibre was spun and made into yarn in the past.

I noticed one of the ladies was using a drop spindle - the oldest form of spinning. Most spinners are happy to demonstrate their craft, as are weavers.  Smiley

It reminds me of costume jewelry from the 50's.

HM is evoking her mother in this bubblegum pink ensemble, especially the hat. Anne looks elegant, Edward quite snazzy (he's been very dapper lately) and Andrew is looking very Hanoverian in girth and chins. Grin

Anne looks great - love the colour on her. I know the same black shoes are worn by QE11 all the time but I wish she had some in other colours .....

I always thought Edward was a male version of his mother QEII but as he ages, he's REALLY looking like his maternal grandfather George VI..in this photo, particularly so.

I love that photo as, despite the fact that in theory they both outrank her in succession Anne stands in front of her brothers. Now if only she was the heir as it almost looks on that picture.

July 9th

Queen Elizabeth plants a tree during a visit to the National Institute of Agricultural Botany at Park Farm in Cambridge.

And today, the Queen did what her grandmother did there in 1921. Queen Mary (consort to King George V) planted a Mulberry tree. Queen Elizabeth planted a Hornbeam

I like the fact that Queen Mary had also planted a tree. Queen Mary was a wonderful inspiration to her granddaughter Elizabeth II.

How interesting that the trimming on HM's hat appears to be fritillaria. Don't think I've ever seen that flower used as a decoration before.

Nice catch on the Fritillaria.

Her tree planting even made the national news here.

Is that another previously unseen brooch? The color suits her and I love the flowers and leaves on her hat.

Not a new brooch, but one I don't remember seeing often.  It rejoices in the title of the Singapore Peranakan Diamond Jubilee Brooch.  Smiley

Delicately pretty I think.  Icecream

Thank you Lady Liebe, another Star when time allows! It's a very beautiful, delicate brooch. It could easily pass as an Art Nouveau family heirloom.

I think QE II looks like her father, who looked just like his mother, Queen Mary. So you were correct both times!

We say here that the Windsor genes are strong, but maybe itís the Teck genes?
