Sigh. That's the late, ever lamented Nizam of Hyderabad Tiara HLM is wearing. Wonderful monarch she was, her taste in jewellery was awful! To dismantle this was a crime; it could have made such a lovely starter tiara for royal ladies. The Brazilian aquamarine tiara is a another example of HLM's interesting taste in jewels.

just out of interest, was it in the 1970s that Lillibet last visited Newcastle-upon-lyme? her statute looks like it has stepped out of the 1970s. LL, Love the Nizam teearah G So . . . She visited Newcastle on Lyme for the 800th anniversary in -wait for it - 1973. Gotta give 'em credit for making it relevant to their city. https://northstaffstv.com...-ii/#sthash.0Sf1kzAu.dpbsCheck out the video in the article and the photo:

It doesn't matter how old you get, buying snacks for a road trip should always look like an unsupervised 9-year-old was given $100. Anonymous

The tiara looks clunky and more like cosmetic jewellery rather than a piece of very precious jewels.

I do think Aquamarines are tricky to create a decent tiara with, but a larger mirror of the necklace sans pendant, would have worked a bit like a fancier version of the Luxembourg set.

HM Queen Elizabeth II (the then Princess Elizabeth) married Prince Philip here in the Abbey #onthisday in 1947. She was the tenth royal bride to be married in the Abbey. The couple would later return to the Abbey for services of thanksgiving to celebrate their Silver, Golden and Diamond wedding anniversaries. https://t.co/EVVhKJNQyR

I'm surprised she was only the tenth royal bride to marry there. I presume the chapel at St James' was the go to for royal brides before?
