Apparently they were eating Estrella chips and had some beer that night... Secret Now I bet they'll use some other "Idol" winner to sing at the Christening.
I'll call her Ella, that's the only name I can cope with

Hopefully, when she becomes Queen she changed her name to something ultra Swedish!

I can't stop thinking of Stella Bella Wines from Western Australia (it's quite nice!)

I remember that lots of Danes were similarly upset when Isabella received her very non-Danish moniker (back from my days as an RD lurker  Secret)

Maybe Victoria and Daniel have plans for the baby princess to be an I.T. whiz - E.S.E.M. (baby princess' initials) =  Empirical Software Engineering and Measurement and guess what?  The next ESEM conference is in Sweden   Wink

My thoughts- it's a pretty name, and goodness knows I like French anything, but it doesn't feel appropriate for the first name of the Swedish heir. I rather wonder if they know that the monarchy won't really be there for the little star to inherit in however many years time. Queen Estelle? No, not feeling it. Having a bit of trouble with Princess Estelle, too. I like Stella as a nickname, though.

Don't even get me started on the Mary part. Probably wasn't influenced by Mosh but you can bet Mosh and a good portion of the media will think so.

Just glad they didn't use Sofia at all. I like the name but... Snakey.

Swedish posters - is Astrid Swedish for star as well? (IIRC)

Could it be possible that they intend for her to eventually become Queen Astrid, but this is their way of keeping their little girl 'theirs' for the moment? As in, not putting the future expectations of her role as Queen with an overtly regal name from the getgo, but rather something that is a little different and uniquely hers?

(Did that make sense to anyone else, or only when I said it in my head...?  )

We're all trying to come to terms with this, Holly. Your theory is as good as anyone's.

@Holly: I don't know if the literal translation of Astrid is star, but it's not the meaning of the name  Thinking

Think Astrid is an old viking name, but we have to put Idun on this one!

As- as in the old nordic Asa God?

Strid- is fight in Swedish, like a big fight on a field.

Itīs a very "hard" name in Swedish..

Count Folke Bernadottes wife was Estelle, but thatīs a long shot..

http://libertyladybook.co...elle-manville-bernadotte/

Dosenīt really matter who has had this name, itīs still snacks and beer on a Friday night in the trailer!
