Young Andrew: Andrew now: Medals on Andrew’s chest are, from left: his South Atlantic Campaign Medal (Falklands War), the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Medal, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal (given to Royal Family and trusted members of her household), The Canadian Decoration (awarded in 2001) and the New Zealand Commemoration Medal (1990).

My grandfather is a former military man and I agree. thanks, it's just that it's like wearing a Halloween costume for the royals… real soldiers work hard & risk their lives and that's what the ranks and decorations represent.. but royals get them to play with in front of the cameras and it cheapens them & cheapens what a real soldiers sacrifice every day .. sorry if I'm ruining the mood here, not my intention at all..

Not at all. We can appreciate a handsome prince dressed in uniform AND wonder just how they got all the medals that stretch across their chest. When you look into them, so many are special orders given by the queen the non-royals can't get, like the Jubilee Medal. Has any royal recived a proper combat medal, ie for valour, courage, distinguished service?

For the 20th and 21st centuries that would be Phillip, Andrew and Harry who have fought for British Navy and Army. I'm not sure about royal service in WWI. If anyone has information about that era I'd love to know. (Perhaps Sophie Wessex could help out)
