He IMO gets the worst of two worlds: he too far enogh from the crown to profit from it, still he is well-known. Would that neighbour had called the police if he was a normal guy dating a normal young woman? It is weird.

Possibly if they knew the car was from England ... not sure if there is some sort of ID that shows that

The neighbour probably would have called the police regardless, but the story would not make the papers if he was the son and grandson of ordinary commoners and not royalty.

I thought he had come under fire (or at least side-eye) for profiting from his connection to the Crown?  Didn't his event-production company get the contract for something related to a Jubilee party for the Queen?  And his milk commercial in China?

So many nasty nasty men in this world ... and us girls have been smeared with that adjective ... until we turned it into a battle cry.

https://www.thenational.s...vip-lane-covid-contracts/

The Good Law Project has been busy trying to uncover some of the people and companies who tried (and got) PPE contracts despite having no experience in the area.  Peter Phillips is the most recent, approaching government officials on behalf of a company not yet founded only 3 days after the first lockdown began.  He used the VIP lane, which allowed people to skip the queues.  Questions are being asked about who used the VIP lanes, often friends and donors of the Conservative party.

In some fairness, the company didn't get a government contract and is supplying testing products.  This does put him ahead of others which received funding/contracts and never delivered.  Still rather dubious though.

Everyone in the US jumped on the loan/PPE bandwagon.  I had clients who didn't really qualify for PPP loans, only to get them forgiven, based on very slim requirements.  Another client started a deep cleaning business for movie sets, and it has already evolved to included testing and consulting, not just deep cleaning.

Hmmm PPE and corruption, well let's see:

the UK Health Secretary was said to have put forward the name of a company he now owns shares in...
the UK Home Secretary twice intervened to ensure a company owned by her friend got a PPE contract
the UK PM was offering to change tax rules to a non-dom UK billionaire to get him to make ventilators

I don't think the Queen's grandson putting forward the name of a company, VIP lane or not, is really the biggest issue in this area.

Is she a girlfriend or just a friend who is female? He also didn't break the rules as he was allowed to travel for business which is what it was determined he had done. The Scottish authorities did investigate and found nothing wrong in what he did ... but of course many would prefer to believe that the Queen's grandson was given special rights rather than recognise that the royals have been some of the most obvious in following the covid rules throughout.
