Looks like Haakon is taking on more and more responsibilities. Who knows if King Harald will recover so well that he can go back to his duties. Maybe he should take it easy and have more rest at his age fighting so many health issues. Haakon seems to be well prepared to take over.
Exactly! He may be moving in that direction.

Official visit to the UShttps://www.kongehuset.no...tid=225278&sek=112472His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon will be traveling on an official visit to the west coast of the US on 15-18 April 2024. The visit will take place in San Francisco and Seattle and aims to strengthen the cooperation between Norway and the US. The US is one of Norway's most important allies and partners in achieving the sustainability goals and green transformation. The states of California and Washington in particular are important partners for Norwegian companies in energy, green transport and new technology. The two states are also host to some of the world's largest and most trend-setting technology companies, not least in the field of artificial intelligence. The purpose of the visit is to promote business cooperation within green transition and digitalisation. In San Francisco, cooperation on the green shift, artificial intelligence and the promotion of Norwegian technology and business are on the agenda. In Seattle, the main theme will be green marine industries, new technology and sustainability. During the visit, the Crown Prince will meet representatives from the state authorities in California and Washington and visit technology companies in Silicon Valley and Seattle, as well as UC Berkeley and the University of Washington. so haakon will go alopne with his bown shoes.. as mm doesnt like to fly for official stuff? ANDREW DENTON: Yes. What did... When you first met, what did you see in each other? CROWN PRINCE FREDERIK: What did we see in each other? We saw... Well, it's a bit hard. It's a bit blurry, in a way, because it was just after the Olympics had started and it was one of those evenings where...

LOL he loves the west coast of the US. When he is king will he refuse to go to the White House until they put it in San Francisco? Can we assume a surfing weekend in Santa Cruz is part of the pre or post trip itinerary?
I dont think he will be away for an hour more than necessary, for the frst time i 17 years the goverment will preside state council on friday without the King or Crown Prince regent, om top of that a minster has had to resign (again!!) after beein caught copying 40 % of her master thesis , and a new one has to be appointed and the most likely candidate is with Haakon on his trip. His absense for five days and the King on sick leave comes at an unfortunate time. The Queen and Crown Princess are carrying out the engagemetns that the King was supposed to do this week while Haakon is away, and it has till no been anunced if the King is well enough to ressume his duties next monday. April to june is the busiest months of the year for the NRF usually, and two state visits are planned for may.

Nice photos out on the bay with the Golden Gate Bridge behind. Haakon, pls stop wearing the ill-fitting double-breasted suits and see a tailor. He’s fit and a nicely fitted suit would go along way with that nice smile. He looks neat enough, just uncomfortable fit on his clothes. He and MM should stick to casual events, they both dress better and seem more relaxed and comfortable.

San Quentin???
Norway has far less recidivism and more rehabilitation of prisoners with their criminal justice system than the US does. Which is informed by punishment. What would be the point of that visit?
Wonder if he will visit the Norwegian Seaman’s church. It’s on Hyde near Lombard (crooked street). Dazzling views from that Church/culture center.

This man loves the Bay Area. If Norway ever fired him I would not be surprised to find him riding Santa Cruz waves part of every year.

It's a tourist attraction now. I know he went to college at Berkeley --but I wish they'd come down to LA once in a while. Whenever the Scandinavians come to California, it's always San Francisco before hopping up to Seattle. Boo hiss.

I agree about the double/breasted suits. They make him look old and stuffy, and I know that he is neither.
I don’t think there was much media coverage, but then so many other weird things were going on here in the bay area during his stay. we had our major freeways and the Golden Gate bridge all shut down because of protests over the war in Gaza. Believe me, here in California, traffic disruptions can easily trump a royal visit .

BIG Norwegian-American community in Seattle. The Nordic Museum is in a part of the town known as Ballazrd, and, informally, as ``snoose junction'' for all the old working class Norskies who used to live there. Now it's a hot and trendy part of the city as the old immigrants and first generation Norwegian-Americans are dying off.
