I am by no means defending MM and Haakon but Marius is a grown man with mental health issues.  If an adult is determined to live a certain lifestyle (drugs, physical and mental abuse of people around him), most parents cannot control that, even by cutting his income and support off.  I say that from experience with 2 kids, both adults now and still dealing with mental health issues.  Tough love sometimes works, mental health counseling and substance abuse treatment can help but the person has to have their mind made up that they want to get help and get things under control.  I think Marius has a dangerous mind and he obviously wants to live this lifestyle, has enablers around him.  His parents love him and it’s very hard to turn your back when this type of thing is going on.  Tough that it’s the NRF, played out in the public eye enough.  Are MM and Haakon good or bad parents - hard to say since we may not have the full story and the media loves to sensationalize things like this.  So very sad all the way around.

By his own account - which might be lies of course but it fits with how he has lived - he has learning and mental health issues that would absolutely have been within MM’s sphere of responsibility when he was younger. This pattern with very inappropriate friends and drug use has also seemingly gone on for quite a while. MM and Haakon could absolutely have done something more constructive and more good and healthy for Marius than have him continue an easy life as if nothing was wrong. That’s definitely on MM. What parent would not want their child to be sober, not use drugs, be independent and certainly not hang out with hardened criminals and become one himself?

Marius did not grow up in a vacuum. I doubt he’s a psychopath. This kind of behaviour escalates from dumb choices - and that’s where his parents should have stepped in.

100%- if she increases her workload now it shows they have been misleading the public for years.

Her biography had been very whitewashed (within the "natural limits", but it is a pattern ... and a learned pattern for Marius.

MM already took longer to complete her normal schooling. Then, for three years before she became pregnant she did a bit of waitressing (and it does not sound as if it was a full time position) and lived of social welfare while living in a poor part of Oslo. Three years! More than 1000 days. She was a healthy young woman and she never once decided to better herself and the future. She had no moral problem living of the tax money of someone else. She had even settled to married a convicted felon. When he went to prison, she hooked up with his friends. Instead of becoming financially independent and put a focus on her education, she was aimlessly lazing about, doing parties and drugs, hanging with the wrong people.

What is Marius doing? Lazing about, doing parties and drugs, hanging with the wrong people. Worse: He has shown that he is a terrible person character wise.

MM became pregnant then and met Haakon. This could have been a turn around point. But it proved: It was not about money issues that she could not go to university full-time. Because she continued: she was lazing about, gave birth to two children, moved to London for a year (doing what exactly?), worked as little as possible, still went to parties (all over Europe), might have refrained from drugs (hopefully) and hung out with the wrong people (Epstein).

Did she ever seriously support charities? Did she ever take her work commitments seriously? Seriously, if she had retired, nobody would have noticed at all, she did so little. The few commitments she did her clothes were outragous, she often did not look engaged, she pulled out last minute or she came up weeks beforehand with an unbelievable excuse. Haakon enabled all this. The press never asked questions.

Now, more than 20 years after the wedding she has the worst approval rates someone can have. Wikipedia talks about 24%. Harald might not be able to do his work much longer. She is dragging Haakon down with her. because Haakon has proved to be totally spineless. Highlight: He had sponsored his healthy, but lazy stepson a nice house on his estate and was thanked by a party where people raided his private rooms (where was security?) - and he did nothing about it. He has zero leadership qualitites in him. When the call about Marius came, he could not even stop his wife from going and destroying evidence. Sorry, but time for a republic, I think. 

Haakon has proved not to be a statesman. What was all this missing a banquet to fly Marius to England (surely he could have found someone flying them over AFTER the engagement) when Marius came back two days later anyway? He is fit as a private person, but should simply not be head of state. MM should not work now. It exposes her as the shameless liar. So far, you could give her the benefit of doubt, even though it was unbelievable that someone was that accident prone and unhealthy as her - while being able to travel around Europe. Now you see: She was able to dress herself properly and to go and do engagements all along. She just creamed off the perks so far.

I think Harald shows very clearly that he has no high opinion of her. I would die to know what Ragnhild knew about her.
