I like the fact that children present flowers to the King and the Queen.

They are, and she looks great and modern for her age, seems she rarely wears skirts now, probably finds pants and low shoes more practical with age, especially when outside.

Today the King was asked about the soccerplayer Erling Braut Haaland who has scored two hat trics for Mancester City in two games, He sure seems much more pleased to tak about soccer than Durek...

What does he think about Norways new King? The soccer-King Haaland who has scored so many golas?

- He probably needs a new hat, joked King Harald to NTB.

Earlier, he had just answered why he himself did not use crown.

- It is so impractical, he said to laughter from the press corps.

The royal couple has been on a county tour in Møre and Romsdal with a packed programme. The soccer-interested king has also learned about Haaland's achievements in England.

- He is a special, great footballer, he added.

The king has previously stated that he follows Tottenham a little extra. The king is very interested in sports and has actively participated in the WC and Olympics in sailing several times.

We must remember that during the Drillo period there were even more Norwegian footballers who made their presence felt in the English top division, so that is nothing new. We have got a new, young generation that is on the way up.

- Perhaps Norway has never seen such a great player as Haaland?

- I don't think many people in the world have seen that either, replied the king.

Seems most of Norway is Haaland fans  right now

A very hard day for him as she was family and he always referred to her as such ... and with his mobility issues the travel and the time in UK must be a huge challenge... true statesman indeed

I love the way King Harald handles his disability with dignity and grace. And he just keeps trucking along.

Yes, I think he was fond of the Queen and it was mutual so the funeral will be emotionally trying.  And of course he will have his own queen along with him, so that's good.

I think he looked very tired at the funeral in London, he had big troubles to get up on the viewing platform in Westmister hall, and in the chappel in Windsor he had to hold on to the chair of Princess Beatrix when standing, I wonder if that was why he was sitting in second row, he has reigned longer than WA and should be in his place next to the swedish King and Queen. I think he has also gained some weight since he started with crutches, I guess he cant be as acive as he was before, even if forced by his wife Wink

Queen Sonja is gong on a 4 day visit to Minnesota

Quote
To highlight the strong ties to the Norwegian-American community in the USA, Her Majesty Queen Sonja will visit the state of Minnesota from 13 to 16 October. Among other things, the Queen will visit St. Olaf College, which was founded by Norwegian immigrants in 1874.

The Queen will also participate in the commemoration of Mindekirken's centenary, visit Norway House in Minneapolis and meet Minnesota's Governor Tim Walz.

The memorial church was started in 1922 by the Norwegian Lutheran Church of America and is one of two churches in the USA that still has a liturgy in Norwegian. The memorial church is central to the Norwegian-American community in Minneapolis and the surrounding area, and is celebrating its centenary this year. Queen Sonja will participate in a celebratory service in the Memorial Church. The Queen will also open a new building adjacent to Norway House, which is a meeting point for Norwegian art, culture and business in the Midwest.

The second church is in Chicago IL at the foot of a 1 mile-long (1.6 km) double boulevard. Niece attends university in Chicago and went to see the church as part of  group of  "city adventures," offered by a student group, of historic neigborhoods/buildings.

----------------
12 Nov 2021
"LOGAN SQUARE — The restoration of the 109-year-old Norwegian Lutheran Memorial Church, one of the most recognizable buildings in Logan Square, is drawing to a close after months of construction.

Since June, construction crews have been rebuilding the church’s crumbling brick facade and making other structural and cosmetic upgrades to the tune of $725,000. It’s the first major renovation of the church since it was completed in 1912. That work is coming to an end later this month, church treasurer Matt Nygaard said.

When crews remove the scaffolding covering the church, they’ll unveil a completely restored church facade with mortar original to the 1912 church and updated copper framing around the steeple, among other upgrades, Nygaard said.

Also this month, but likely before construction is complete, church leaders will hold their annual Taste of Norway celebration 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 20 at the church, 2614 N. Kedzie Ave. Like in previous years, the event will feature traditional Norwegian treats and crafts, such as handmade Nyssa hats, Havreflakk cookies and Scandinavian porridge and a rosemaling demonstration. Proceeds will benefit the church.

This year’s event will double as a celebration of the renovation project. Because there were no unforeseen costs during construction, church leaders were able to make additional improvements that weren’t part of the original scope of the project, such as rebuilding the parapet wall that flanks the front of the church, Nygaard said.

The event is also momentous because last year’s gathering had to be canceled because of the pandemic.

“It’s just a chance to get together and celebrate that the project went as well as it did,” Nygaard said."

Gee, I'm sorry she won't be going to Augustana University as well. That's the Norwegian-American /Lutheran college in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where my grandson is a senior.  The Norwegian royals do try to hit one of the various Norwegian-American / Lutheran colleges -- Luther, St. Olav, Augustana -- on each visit, but I guess this year it isn't Augstana's turn.
