Can't believe that my favorite character is gone, and so unexpectedly. I love rebellious types. Now, I'm pinning my hopes on Lady Edith. More Edith storylines, please, Mr. Fellowes.

Hard not to cry at that, Writer. I watched it a second time last night at pbs.org and wept all over again (and I am not a weepy person...)

Hmmmm....so I can't figure out if the new footman (James/Jimmy) is gay or has a deep dark secret (like abuse or something). Can't figure him out. I think he might be sweet on Daisy but who knows.

I really hope he's sweet on Daisy.  She deserves some happiness & someone that she can love.
I just think there's something going on with him.  It will be interesting to see what it is.

Possibly off-topic, except for a throw-away line in the article about how the article's subject viewed Downton Abbey. I find it quite fascinating to read about "the other life".

Quote
Florence Wadlow, who has died aged 100, was one of the last survivors of the pre-war generation which served “below stairs” in the great houses of England.

Her days were long, her accommodation spartan, her pay meagre. Yet she looked back on those days with affection, and in old age became a much sought-after source of information about what it was like to have a “life in service”. She was unimpressed by the ITV series Downton Abbey, saying: “They have got it wrong. They should have talked to people like me.”

Daughter of a Billingsgate fish porter. Kitchen maid at Hatfield House for Lord Salisbury, who ate milk pudding every day. Cook for for Lord Lothian at Blickling, earning £50 a year in 1936. "She only once entered the dining room — in 1938, when Queen Mary came for lunch and Flo was allowed to slip in to see the table decorations"

A interesting article of a very different era. If I was that woman though I would have taken up the offer to work in Washington.

Last night's episode was fun. I never thought I'd be so sympathetic for Thomas!! Hope O'Brien gets what's coming to her soon, ugh. Lady Rose and her situation doesn't add all that much to the show, I'm not sure why they felt the need to bring her on.

Next week, season finale!!  Cry
