Sorry, Ortensia---since that happened several years ago, I certainly didn't think I'd be shocking anybody Smiley

And Edith has very definitely become a far more sympathetic character since then Yes

i'll get over it,don't worry, and edith's been trough such difficoulties that the authors made her atone for being a spy of her own sister.

I have to say that I didn't enjoy the latest Downton as much as previous ones. I really miss Sybil and Matthew, and I don't think the newest additions especially the servants, were good replacements. I also really did not like the whole rape storyline.

I just hope that the next series gets it's old charm back.

I  liked it until they started all that nonsense about whether Mary would marry Mathew in an age when a woman of her class getting a career wasn't really the done thing, and only 1 in 10 women marrying due to the war she would have said yes straight away.

mary and matthew were a mismatched couple.
it looked like the actors didn't like each other and they traded their difficoulties in their acting.

We just had tea at the Spadina Museum in Toronto where they had the Downton Abbey costumes on display.

My favourite were Violet's and Mary's but the one thing we all noticed was how skinny and small those actresses (Mary, Edith, Sybil, Cora) are!

We could barely get an arm in those fragile gowns. And they are very detailed and even more beautiful in person!

I have begun to see Season 2 of Downton Abbey. I like the part where Mary sees Matthew off at the train station when he has to go to France.

Thanks for the reminder about this series, Cyril!  I need to re-watch it.  I love it and it would be so good to watch during this time.  I feel like each time I watch it, I pick up on something new!  It got to the point where I almost wanted to assign it for my history classes to watch because I referenced it so many times!
