My guess is that she will be Queen Consort.  I know that isn't a popular idea, but I think that's what Chuck will do.

Hopefully Queen Consort. Everything else would be pathetic.

I get it, the British people don't like her all that much. But it's been years now, people should forgive her. She isn't the first person to cheat nor the last. As the wife of the future king, she should become queen consort. I think she's very down-to-earth and approachable, she will make a good queen.

I adore Diana and I do like Camilla. But honestly, I don't really care what the British people call her. I don't think her being Queen Consort will automatically boost her popularity and deplete Diana's. At the end of the day people will have their opinions.

I third the Queen consort suggestion  Yes

I also agree that he shouldn't meddle in politics. He is very outspoken regarding the environment and all his 'green' stuff but surely that's not all they talk about behind closed doors  Secret

I have never been a fan of Camilla, but Diana needs to be laid to rest. She is dead, and will never be queen, wouldn't have been even if alive. I get Camilla being DOC instead of Princess of Wales, even though she is, as that is the title Diana was known as. But Diana was never queen, and when the time comes, I think Camilla should be queen consort.

With the current British Gov't, they'll talk about the type of biscuits they're eating if it diverges from actually running the country, so Charles' environment involvment wouldn't surprise me as a topic of conversation.

I for one would always feel a tinge of sadness whenever I heard her referred to as "Queen Camilla."  Yes, this is the 21st century and divorce and remarriage is common, but the monarchy is an ancient institution that upholds ancient tradition.  Camilla was Charles' mistress.  In my mind, that's really all she'll ever be.   Diana was Charles' legitimate queen.

If this occurs and we really get Queen Camilla, to me it won't feel like C & C are the legitimate heirs to the throne.  They are just pretenders, twisting the rules to suit their claim to power.  I will probably start ignoring them if/when such an event occurs.

I don't necessarily agree that Diana is the legitimate queen because that marriage was just disastrous for all involved, but I agree with the bold sentence you wrote and I think that is what bothers me the most. He should not have been allowed to marry her and I agree that they twisted rules for it to happen. I am not religious but if he is supposed to be the leader of a church that says you may not divorce and then become king/the leader of this church...and he DOES, then that is just hypocritical and he is a big spoiled brat.

Thumb up  he is a big brat, not very loveable and now that he's pushed his luck and married her, deserves the low rating.  JMO whether we like it or not (and i don't) she will be queen NO MATTER what title or how they try to hide it.  it's terrible but i really hope the queen out lives him JMO JMO he will never get the respect or affection that the queen inspires NEVER especially with her beside him.

i think it's telling they try not to be without the queen or wills in public, i think those boo's really shook him and he does his best to not let it happen again, when she's queen i see it getting worse and the crown being vulnerable, i seriously have doubts Will will be king, i think it'll really end with QEII. IMO Charles has enough of a reputation in some quarters as being a pompous, interfering busybody that even if he was still married to Diana there would be alot of British people who would not be hapopy about his reign.

That being said I think, when the time comes, Camilla should be queen. The past is past.

The thing with Camilla is, she showed her true colours by being shameless helping destroying a marriage. She is not alone to blame of course, that would be unfair. I donīt care if she is the Queen consort or Princess consort.

She's legally going to be Queen Consort. There is no precedent for Princess Consort. But I think there could be problems if Charles insists Camilla is crowned alongside him. For better or worse, people have long memories.

Tatty:  Star fab post!!!

I don't think people have that long a memory. When you look back in history, most heirs were considered to be less able than their predecessors:
EdwardVII for ex was the very first royal topdog that was summoned before a court of law in an ugly divorce case, something much more socially tabooed than ever since. The fat, philandering not overly bright son of the beloved Victoria (who had reigned so long that few people could remember a different souvereign) was received with a lot of doubts. And at the time Edward handed over the throne to George, he was much loved and admired, while people felt uneasy with his bland, boring and stiff son.
And so on and so on...

Should Camilla be styled as queen or princess?
Personally I think as princess. A man marrying a queen is no more than a prince, in the sake of emanzipation women should not become more. Camilla's husband will be king, but the times when wives shared in their husbands titles should be over now, as they very well can get those titles for themselves.
