She smokes some specially imported Greek cigarettes, Karelia. They are strong ciggies. She avoids smoking in public now, but she was very slow at "getting it".

Daisy has the best doctors at her disposal and they probably detect any abnormalities that surface and nip them immediately unlike us peasants visit the doctors annually or not at all unless we are really sick.

Wouldn't they announce that she's going in for a "procedure"? 

Also, not every spot on the lung is operable.  She's just been very lucky.
