Yup, that's my opinion.

Meghan knew well that there would come something from this side of her family. The relationship she had with her father and her half siblings seemed to have been a bad one for some time. And as it is with family/extended family, there will be always people to find a chance to put their lives/dirty laundry in the forefront of media. That will pass with time. She got married to a royal, a huge deal for some people, what did she expect? They didn't blabb off when she was a semi-famous actress. There was nothing in the media about the relationship with this side of her family then.

Donaldson didn't blabb off (his wife did), but he did things and will do things, as soon as Mary is Queen Consort, that are were more embarrassing to me than stupid ass comments to the press. It's just that it wasn't a big deal in the Danish Press like Meghan's. He crashed 2 royal events, he got a paid position in Denmark putting his royal realationship in the forefront. Mary's brother posted info on his facebook about a feud betwen sisters, and their whereabouts, which was denied by the court  Roll Eyes Queen Margrethe was said to be annoyed by Susan Moody’s behaviour because she talks too much, and both Susan and Jock gave interviews about the private life of Xtian and how he is raised in 2008 - which totally contradicted what Mary said, but again no push from the press in Denmark. There could have been seriously bad headlines for Mary, if DRF wouldn't be in cahoots with the Danish press. Both, John & Moody have obviously been kept a distance from the DRF since then. And I suspect them laying low - living in France - is a strategic push, until F&M take over once Daisy is gone.

And looking on the net it is very strange that Susan Moody states she is living in Ribérac, France, and Jock states that he is living in Aarhus, Denmark. So what gives? Again, no investigation form the Danish Press.

I think this is the thread that talks about it (https://royaldish.com/index.php?topic=1955.0).  Not sure just started to read the thread.

Pede, what did Mary's dad and stepmom say about how Christian was being raised? I am curious!

Jazzy posted that bit in 2008 and that was around the time where Mary was asked if they speak only Danish at home, and she affirmed that they do, that she sometimes sings them English children songs, but otherwise they speak mainly Danish.

Thanks for posting this link Jazzy, in the Mary thread. Professor John
"Half-Mast" Donaldson looks visibly frightened when his wife reveals
the truth - that Prince Christian of Denmark is being brought up as an
English speaker, and by inference that Mary's show of Danish is a
front - a PR  exercise. Moody is clearly frustrated and (to her credit) somewhat more honest than the Donaldson clan.

http://www.herognu.com/in...&parent=73&id=113

Reporter (Kirsten Balslev): Which language do you speak to your grandchildren here in Denmark?

Professor John Donaldson: A mixture of childhood Danish but a lot of
English and we hope that our English speaking will have a little bit
of influence on the way in which they ultimately talk, but ...

Reporter: And you, Susan?

Susan Moody: I speak very basic Danish to Prince Christian, Princess
Isabella is a bit too small yet, but the young prince does speak quite
a bit of English ... quite a lot of English words ... so every now and
then he says something and you think, "That was English!" but we do
try to speak to him in both, as his parents do .... (turning to
Professor Donaldson) ... what? was that too ...

Professor Donaldson: We have to be very careful ...

Reporter: What do your grandchildren call you?

Susan Moody: John is Grande and I'm Susie ... (turning to Professor
Donaldson, sounding a little annoyed) ... what? Is that too private to
answer?

Professor Donaldson (looking uncomfortable) No, no, no ... (turning to
the reporter) we have to be very careful ...

Note that it's clear from Moody's words that Prince Christian
instigates conversations in English, otherwise there would  be no
surprise as expressed above.

Note the visible tension between Professor Donaldson and his wife, who
is clearly (and understandably) less interested than he is, in
protecting Mary from having her complete inadequacy as a Danish
princess exposed.

It's also clear that Professor John Donaldson is very much aware that there are comments
(whether in the press or on the internet) about Prince Christian being brought up as an English
speaker and that it is bad PR. No doubt he is aware that Queen Margrethe would not be pleased with her daughter-in-law, and of course Professor Donaldson wishes to keep his nest feathered in Denmark.

Considering Mary can barely speak Danish now (as I understand?), not to mention worse back then I'd assume, it's not surprising. As long as the kids are brought up in both languages but it seems yet another attempt for Mary to obfuscate and present herself in a certain way--falsely.

Oh, she can speak Danish, but abhorrently for the tutelage she had and the time she spent in the country!

What go me from the interview is this:

As at this time and day and especially with their royal status and education level it is totally normal to raise children bilingually (if you check out e.g. Maria Theresia's daughters who had to learn four or five languages because they were not sure who they would marry) - why would they talk to their grandchild in a language they could not master? Frodo surely grew up bilingually so that would have been so easy to have the kids trilingugal ...

What Pa and his wife have not realized - because their daughter is in a very higher social position than he is now does not entitle him to fame or public interest. Hei s not a royal.

There are a few things very odd about him:
(1) He feels so close to Scotland and promotes it to the last - yet he moved to Australia. Why?
(2) Why would he leave three children behind in Australia to settle in a country with a language totally strange to him? Doesn't he have friends/ personal attachments/ hobbies/ social circle in Australia? Very odd.
(3) Why would he swap his anonymity to become a D-class prominent person with all the downfalls that brings? More hassle than good.
