Just as several other countries in Central- and West- Europe, Belgium suffers severe floodings and related effects & results.

July 15:

King Filip is going to Chaudfontaine this afternoon

The king will visit the badly affected municipality of Chaudfontaine in the province of Liège together with Minister of the Interior Annelies Verlinden (CD&V). The palace reports that.

 Nerves

Omg, those photos, that water. Thank you for sharing Principessa.

Climate change is real. I get especially worried when reading about and looking at photos of polar regions, burning tundra in Siberia, and ice bears.

Now these floods. Yikes.

Belgium commemorates flood victims with day of national mourning

Belgium today has a day of national mourning to remember the victims of the flood. At least 31 people have died in the country and the severe weather has wreaked havoc on homes and infrastructure. King Filip and Prime Minister De Croo attend a memorial ceremony in Verviers and emergency services sound their sirens for a minute at 12:00, followed by a minute of silence....

....Tomorrow the national holiday in Belgium will be celebrated more soberly. The festivities are smaller and some activities have been cancelled.
