His mom Margaret Beaufort has him when she was 12, supposedly
Yes  Sad and she couldn’t have any more children after that so she was dedicated to him. She was a driving force behind him becoming king.

It’s commonly thought that she was only 13 (the oldest suggested age was 14)when she had him which was considered young even for that time period.
Yeah, she was a very strong woman!

Starz will be showing another Philippa Gregory setialization, The Spanish Princess (Catherine of Aragon), later this year. I’m looking forward to it.

Oooo. Me too! I love the Philippa books about these royal women.
Made me appreciate Catherine of Aragon as so much more that a “scorned” wife

Princess Alice of Albany, then Countess of Athlone. I read her memoirs, watched an interview made to her and you always end up with the same feeling the she is both down to earth and close.

Now, Sophie, countess of Wessex.  Roll Eyes

^ 30 years ago, I stayed at Brantridge Park, the long time  home of Princess Alice (Athlone), which had then been made into a hotel. I was lucky enough to score her personal bedroom suite. It was a timeshare hotel, so it was just  sheer luck of the draw. I could just as easly been in the carriage mews! It was a lovely Georgian home, which has been made private again now, as an equestrian facility.

Yes, even Queen Mary stayed there quite a few times, and I do remember some other royal moved in with them until her or his demise, I can't remember his/her name. Lucky you!she
